HBO HAS MATTHYSSE-PROVODNIKOV
HBO GOES UP AGAINST SHOWTIME
#2 Rated 140 lb. Lucas Matthysse
San Francisco, CA– Larry Merchant’s ex-employer, Home Box Office will Saturday air a live 140 lb. loser “leaves top five” bout between Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34 KOs) and Ruslan Provodnikov.
MATTHYSSE FAVORED OVER “FACE” FIGHTER
Although I admire the grit and will of Provodnikov, the fact that Chris Algieri beat him is enough for me to think Lucas will trounce him. Seeing Ruslan (24-3, 17 KOs) is not afraid to “take a shot to throw a shot,” Lucas should batter him at will throughout.
WINNER TO CLASH FOR VACANT TITLE?
With Danny Garcia “pimping” off the 140 lb. linear crown at 143, should Lucas win in a dominant manner, then Danny can either vacate or fight the Argentine again.
BUSY NIGHT FOR BOXING & MMA FANS
With HBO offering up Lucas vs. Ruslan, Showtime has Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Andrzej Fonfara. In addition, the UFC is going live on Fox TV with Luke Rockhold and Michael “The Count” Bisping in the five round main event starting at 8 ET.
