FIGHT RESULTS OF “LIGHT” SCHEDULE

January 16, 2010

“TOP RANK LIVE” SERIES DEBUTS

Las Vegas, NV– Vanes Martirosyan, 153 lbs, Glendale, CA. UD 10 Kassim Ouma, 150, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Martirosyan (27-0, 17 KOs), the recipient of a cut under his left eye from an accidental clash of heads, seemed out of rhythm throughout with Ouma (26-2, 16 KOs). Ouma for his part was the aggressor before tiring around the 7th round. A second wind for Ouma helped him score a flash knockdown of Martirosyan in the ninth but the judges called it 97-93 twice and 97-92 for him, though a draw would have been more justified.
Jose Benavidez , 138.5, Phoenix, AZ. TKO 1 Steven Cox, 139, Independence, MO.
Benavidez Jr. (1-0, 1 KO) in his much anticipated pro debut didn’t disappoint as he dispatches a seemingly frightened Cox (1-1, 1 KO) in 81 seconds.

Diego Magdaleno, 130.5, Las Vegas, NV. UD 8 Gerardo Robles, 131.5, Kansas City, MO. Magdaleno (13-0, 3 KOs) outclasses Robles (9-9, 5 KOs) over eight entertaining but not spectacular rounds. Scores were 78-74 twice and 80-72.

ESPN 2 AIRS FIRST SHOW OF YEAR

Laredo, TX– Demetrius Andrade, 154, Providence, RI. KO 1 Bernardo Guareca, 154, El Paso, TX. Andrade (9-0, 7 KOs) stepped in the ring and a mere 78 seconds after the bell rang stopped the hapless Guareca (15-10-1, 3 KOs).

Juan Carlos Burgos, 125.25, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico TKO 12 Juan Carlos Martinez, 129 ,San Luis Potosi, Mexico Burgos (24-0, 17 KOs) was methodical in stopping last minute sub Martinez (17-12-1, 7 KOs) at 1:07 of the 12th. Journeyman Martinez fought true to his classification, never really pressing the action and looking rather unimpressive.
