WEEKEND BOXING ODDS AND PREDICTIONS!
Erislandy Lara Returns
Friday, April 20, 2012
Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Biloxi, Miss– (Showtime) Jermain Taylor (29-4-1, 18 KOs) vs. Caleb Truax (18-0-1, 10 KOs) Odds/Prediction: 6-5 pick ‘em. With the damage done to 2000 Olympian Taylor, I wouldn’t bet him with your money. Looks close on paper!
Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10 KOs) vs. Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20 KOs) Odds/Prediction: Lara 14-5. Robbery victim of 2011 vs. Paul Williams returns. Cuban looks a level and 1/2 better than Tommy Hearns’ kid!
Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada– (ESPN2) Adonis Stevenson (17-1, 14 KOs) vs. Noe Alcoba (28-1, 20 KOs) (WBC Silver 168 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Stevenson 2 1/2 to 1. Might be a bit closer than the odds, but I’m thinking the “house” more than likely to win in Canada.
Club Marconi, Bossley Park, Australia– Leonardo Zappavigna (25-2, 17 KOs) vs. Farzan Ali (27-5, 18 KOs) Odds/Prediction: Zapp 3-1. Australian fighter looks the better here. Dropping $900 to win $1,200.
Saturday, April 21, 2012
Don Haskins Convention Center, El Paso, TX– (Showtime) Abner Mares (23-0-1, 13 KOs) vs. Eric Morel (46-2, 23 KOs) Odds/Prediction:
Mares 12-5. Morel’s best weight 112 or 115, but this is at 122. Will go with “Low Blow” king Mares. Dropping $1,200 to win $1,700.
Anselmo Moreno (32-1-1, 11 KOs) vs. David De La Mora (24-1, 17 KOs) (WBA 118 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Moreno 11-5. Panamanian looks better than Mexican here!
Librado Andrade (30-4, 23 KOs) vs. Rowland Bryant (15-1, 10 KOs) Odds/Prediction: Andrade 3-1. Far better Andrade a class better than Bryant.
San Juan, Argentina– Omar Narvaez (35-1-2, 19 KOs) vs. Jose Cabrera (20-2-2, 8 KOs) (WBO 115 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Omar 3-1. Narvaez looked inept vs. Nonito Donaire at 118. Dropping to 115, Narvaez the favorite fighting at home.
