“TOP RANK LIVE” DEBUTS JANUARY 16!

ARUM HITS ANOTHER “HOME RUN” HERE!

Las Vegas, NV- The Hispanic demographic is very important in the programming of boxing on television. For the most part, the Latino piece of the pay per view pie is the biggest. That being said, the concept of “Top Rank Live,” a two hour Saturday night series that will run thrice monthly on Fox Sports Espanol, is beyond novel, and has the potential to be a “real” winner! The problem with giving Top Rank total control, is that tend to air nothing but “protection” fights, meaning their guy is in safe.

ENGLISH SPEAKING FOLK NEED NOT FRET

Yankees need not fret as Arum’s press release stated that certain regions of Fox Sports Net will also carry the programming which begins January 16, live from the Hard Rock Hotel here. On top of this 10 PM ET inaugural card will be Vanes Martirosyan (26-0, 17 KOs) v. Karim Ouma (26-6, 18 KOs) at middleweight (160 lbs) and featherweights (126) Mikey Garcia (18-0, 15 KOs) v. Joksan Hernandez (17-1, 10 KOs).

WILL TOP RANK NAME MANDATE LUSTER?

“Lousy fights,” that was the problem on Versus Network, as Top Rank aired a series that probably soured the network on boxing, especially in light of the attention the World Extreme Cagefighting (UFC’s triple AAA farm club) garnered. Properly promoted, and this is something Top Rank can do when they are inclined to do so, the boys on Howard Hughes Blvd here in “Sin City” with a stellar roster can shine. It’ll be interesting to see how they stack up with the big boys, HBO and Showtime when they clash on Saturdays?

  2. Chavez JR is perfect for this series…he doesn’t deserve to be on HBO or PPV.

  3. Chavez jr vs camacho jr woulda been the perfect start to the series both fighters have no business being on one of the top premium networks or ppv…so bob arum please keep your son of the legend on fox sports and away from ppv or a ppv undercard for that matter…all he does is hamper a great main event like he did with pac vs. cotto..

  5. Hopefully this series will produce less “Latin Fury” and “Pinoy Power” PPV cards and allow some of the fighters who would regularly be on those cards get some national TV exposure…I’m so excited for this series to debut!
