AZ PROMOTER SCOTT MALING SAYS HE IS NO “FLEA”

ARIZONA BOXING PEOPLE “FEELING” HEAT?

Scott Maling

Scott Maling

San Francisco, CA– Today I received a letter from Arizona promoter Scott Maling’s attorney claiming that Maling has “never” fronted for Bob Arum’s Top Rank. In 2005, with promoter/Felon Peter McKinn on a path that would lead to jail, I was told then that Mr. Maling reportedly “filled the void.” He denies this.

PEOPLE ARE JUDGED BY THEIR COMPANY

Mr. Maling was also irked at my calling him, John Montano and McKinn “fleas.” Maybe that was an obvious conclusion to some seeing he attended an Arizona Boxing Commission with Peter McKinn, a Felon convicted of theft, forgery, fraud, filing false police reports, suborning perjury, all the result of McKinn stealing money from a boxer in Arizona.

MCKINN ASKED BOXER TO “BURN DOWN” ACCUSER’S GYM

Ex-Top Rank Felon Peter McKinn

Ex-Top Rank Felon Peter McKinn In Jail

After listening to conversations that were picked up on a police wire, there’s no way you can walk away NOT thinking McKinn is the lowest form of human life. According to ex-boxer Daniel Lerma, (who once boxed for McKinn) he told Phoenix Police that McKinn wanted to hire his brother, “To knock out Joe Diaz. You know, burn his house down, his truck down.” Lerma said he was aware of the $5,000 check that Diaz tried to cash. Lerma says McKinn, “Voided the check and Diaz did not get paid.”

JOE DIAZ’ CAR SHOT UP & GYM WAS BURNED

Trainer Joe Diaz’ joint, the shuttered Top Level Gym in Phoenix was shot up one night, set on fire another, and his vehicle was filled with bullet holes as well. Is that just a coincidence Mr. Maling, sir? You know, McKinn looking to hire people to harm and or possibly kill a feeble old man, torch his place, and then that’s exactly what happened!!! And I’m not saying this flippantly, it is part of the Phoenix Police investigation.

San Francisco, CA– If you Google “Al Haymon Boxing,” you will get my posting the PBC September Boxing Schedule and “Al Haymon Victim Of Boxing Enemy.” That being fact, I just don’t understand why Haymon’s right hand and the face of PBC, Sam Watson can’t grasp what is happening here. Either PBC knows they are dealing with criminals or Sam’s comprehension skills need improvement.

FELON PROMOTER & DISGRACED EX-ARIZONA BOXING CHIEF

With boxing Felon Peter McKinn, defrocked NABO head John Montano, before the WBO successfully sued him for Fraud and Theft of Funds, walking hand in hand, Bob Arum’s “Go To” guy in Arizona, Scott Maling made an appearance at the Arizona Boxing Commission office Friday and met with Boxing Director Matt Valenzuela in order to get an October 14 date on ESPN for Mr. Heymon and Premier Boxing Champions.

Leo Santa Cruz

Leo Santa Cruz

San Francisco, CA– What are the chances of Leo “The Earthquake” Santa Cruz becoming the next Wilfredo “Bazooka” Gomez? None! But that doesn’t mean he isn’t the best 122 lb. boxer going today. The battle of Mexican born Southern Californian’s was highlighted by the flashy fisted Santa Cruz, a professional since 2006 who now sports a 31-0-1 (17 KOs) record after winning a Majority Decision 12 over Abner Mares (29-2-1, 15 KOs) Saturday night on ESPN from The Staples Center. Scores were 117-111 twice & 114-114. No knockdowns, but lotsa’ head butts and over 2,000 punches were thrown.

BEST OSCAR DE LA HOYA EVER

DIIFERENT SIDE OF DE LA HOYA

San Francisco, CA– Having known Oscar De La Hoya since he was a skinny 17-year old Olympic hope, you can say the “Golden Boy” of boxing has evolved in the 25 years since. When my producer called him in 1990, I can remember his late mother Cecilia saying, “Oscar, telefono.”

MOM WANTED HIM TO SING

A 2004 self titled album that was panned after Oscar failed to deliver when singing a Bee Gee’s song, “Run To Me,” on The Tonight Show. This video has boxing clips that coincide with De La Hoya and his wife Millie Corretjer.

San Francisco, CA– When Manny Pacquiao arrived at the MGM Grand to face Floyd Mayweather on May 2, it was expected that both he and Mayweather were in good enough health to give their all. At the same time, when people plucked down a record $100 to view the much anticipated scrap on Pay Per View, they too thought they were buying a match involving healthy two-armed fighters.

Margarita & Tim Coleman Pre-Meth

Margarita & Tim Coleman Pre-Meth

San Francisco, CA– Having been part of the SFPD’s Bay View Narcotic & Robbery Task Force, you might be surprised that the most addictive “drug” I encountered was none other than Nicotine. The most dangerous drug happening both then and now is Methamphetamine, aka Speed!

POLICE CAN PROVE THE FOLLOWING

Margarita Coleman (LVPD Photo)

Margarita Coleman (LVPD Mug Shot)

That being said, the Las Vegas murder of Mary Luebeck is a classic case of a late night tweaker (speed addict) in need of Drug money. In the wee hours of July 29th, awakened by breaking glass, the 84-year old grandma encountered Margarita Balandova Coleman in her house. During a vicious give and take fight in which both Margarita and the victim were scratched and marked, Luebeck was stabbed to death.

BOXER TIM COLEMAN HELD IN VEGAS MURDER

BOXER INVOLVED IN CASE….IS IT PRE OR POST MURDER?

Tim Coleman

Tim Coleman

San Francisco, CA– If you fight nothing but guys like Willie Standup, etc., the chances of learning anything but bad habits along the way are minuscule. That is the case of Timothy Coleman, a Baltimore, MD bred jr. welterweight (140 lb.) who went 14-0-1 versus nondescript foes before losing a Split Decision 12 to then unbeaten (17-0) Johnny DeLaRosa in 2008.

GIRLFRIEND/COMMON LAW WIFE SAYS “BOXER DID IT”

Three straight KO losses soon followed and Coleman was done at 29 years of age at 19-4-1, 5 KOs, this after a Zahir Raheem KO 2 loss in late 2013. Today, Coleman sits in jail after his girlfriend told Police when she was arrested for a Home Invasion Murder, that Coleman had killed 84-year old Mary Luebreck, not her.

WALLACE COLLIER “BEAT ROCKY MARCIANO”

DESERVED MEDAL OF HONOR & FOUGHT MARCIANO THRICE

Wallace Collier

Wallace Collier

San Francisco, CA– Being of the belief that few real American heroes get their acknowledgment and propers, it gives me great pride to to tell you about Wallace Collier. A three war veteran, Collier who fought Rocky Marciano, served the United States in World War II, the Korean conflict, in addition to being deployed in Vietnam.

CHAMPION OF MINNEAPOLIS COMMUNITY

Collier passed away a fortnight ago at the age of 92, this after beating Colon Cancer in a lifetime that was dedicated to “public service.” His obituary said, “Wallace H. Collier was a three-time war veteran, a black belt in taekwondo and a boxer who fought and beat Rocky Marciano. He was not one to boast about his feats of strength as he didn’t have to.”

CHAMP’S BIGGEST MUSCLES “BETWEEN EARS”

His strength was not only reflected in his muscular build but in his commitments: in the line of duty, to his wife of 62 years, as a dad to his two sons and a father figure to the students at North High School who called him Mr. Wally.

MONDAY BOXING NOTES – RESULTS

DANNY GARCIA PUNCHES “HOLES” IN PAULIE

Danny "Swift" Garcia

Danny “Swift” Garcia

San Francisco, CA– It wasn’t a beat-down as one-sided as Larry Holmes-Muhammad Ali, or the more recent Manny Pacquiao-Oscar De La Hoya clash, but the “drip, drip, drip” whipping ascending World 140 lb. king Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) put on Paulie Malignaggi was as predictable as the sun coming up tomorrow. Throwing home runs and imposing his size advantage from the get-go, Danny was never threatened.

HOMETOWN GUY THROTTLED…SHOULD RETIRE

Sans any real punching power, a superlative boxer at 135 & 140, Malignaggi was the “opponent” even though the ESPN televised event took place on Paulie’s hometown turf at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Paulie, who has come a long way since the US Golden Gloves title, needs to concentrate on his TV work and retire from boxing at 33-7, 7 KOs.

JACOBS GETS WIN AFTER “SNAP, CRACKLE, POP”

Thought to be long past his prime, TV’s Contender champ Sergio Mora and Cancer survivor Danny Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) exchanged clean knockdowns in round one before Mora suffered a broken ankle after a tussle in which Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) was going down for the second time. Interesting for as long as it lasted, and Mora wants a rematch, that’s not happening.

CREEPY MINNESOTA DENTIST KILLS “CECIL THE LION”

PAID FINE FOR ILLEGAL KILL BEFORE

Walter Palmer (left) c.ellebrating 2008 kill

San Francisco, CA– How can anybody in boxing be a worse person than the guy that killed “Cecil the Lion,” the most famous creature in the country of Zimbabwe? Walter James Palmer, 55, a dentist from Minnesota is said to have paid $50,000 to shoot and kill the much-loved lion.

RICH MEN DO WHATEVER

“Cecil the Lion” was found beheaded and skinned on the outskirts of the Hwange National Park. The hunt occurred around July 6. “They went hunting at night with a spotlight and they spotted Cecil,” Johnny Rodrigues, a spokesman for the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force, told The Guardian. “They tied a dead animal to their vehicle to lure Cecil out of the park and they scented an area about half a kilometre from the park.”

PALMER PLOTTED DEATH OF WORLDWIDE ICON

Rodrigues said Palmer first shot Cecil with a crossbow, but it did not kill him. They “tracked and found him 40 hours later and shot him to death with a rifle, Rodrigues said.

KOVALEV MAKES YET ANOTHER STATEMENT

Sergey Kovalev Dropped Nadjib Mohammedi Four Times!

Sergey Kovalev Dropped Nadjib Mohammedi Four Times!

San Francisco, CA– Although some fights are billed as professional boxing, that only means guys are getting paid. That being said, there were a lot of chalk fights on Saturday beginning with a match Stevie Wonder bet big, sight unseen, between unbeaten WBA/IBF/WBO 175 lb. titleholder Sergey Kovalev and Nadjib Mohammedi (37-4, 23 KOs).

NO RIFLEMAN IN STANDS

Outside of a sniper’s rifle from the cheap seats at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Nadjib had no shot. With a trio of straight right hands all putting him down in round two, a two punch (right-left hook) combination finished him at 2:38 of round three. It was yet another dominant performance by the 28-0-1 (25 whacks) Russkie.

LOOKS LIKE ANDRE WARD-GENNADY GOLOVKIN IN 2016

Kovalev promoter Kathy Duva has indicated that World 168 lb. guy Andre Ward, represented by Roc Nation Sports, has indicated that Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) is angling for a Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) fight in early 2016 provided Golovkin gets by David Lemieux on October 17 when GGG” makes his Pay Per View baptism from New York.

KOVALEV SANS ANYBODY BUT WARD OR STEVENSON?

It looks as if Sergey is left with a weight jump and fight at 200 lbs. vs. WBA cruiserweight champ Beibut Shumenov (16-2, 10 KOs) who prevailed over 36-year old B.J. Flores via 12 round Unanimous Decision on NBCSN TV Saturday. Watching Flores’ debut in 2003, it’s been 12+ years and the amateur standout really hasn’t as a pro regardless of his 31-2-1, 20 KOs mark. Scores were 116-112 (8-4 rounds) on all three official scorecards.

ASSASSIN KOVALEV 5-1 FAVORITE WITH INSIDE DISTANCE HIT

Shumenov’s claim to fame is losing the WBA 175 lb. trinket to Bernard Hopkins, the geriatric champion fighter from Philadelphia that Kovalev beat the snot out of after Hopkins-Shumenov. Expecting Sergey to halt Beibut inside of a dime (ten rounds) regardless of weight or date.
