FIGHTERS IN “DAVID VS. GOLIATH” BATTLE WITH UFC

Nate "ZombieCageFighter.com" Quarry

Nate “ZombieCageFighter.com” Quarry

San Francisco, CA– On the longest running fight show in history, 30+ years, “Ring Talk Worldwide,” host Pedro Fernandez went over the boxing news, results, previews etc., before bringing in the ZombieCageFighter.com creator and retired UFC fighter Nate Quarry, who painted an ugly picture of fighters and how they are allegedly treated by Dana “John Holmes” White. Well versed on the litigation, Quarry is an excellent spokesperson for the sport and that comic book is again, an incredible piece of work.

BLACK FLOYD FANS HAVE RONDA ROUSEY ISSUES

INTERNET WORLD CALLS THEM “FLOMOS”

Ronda Rousey-Floyd Mayweather

Ronda Rousey-Floyd Mayweather

San Francisco, CA– Last week I wrote about how after visiting with some Black guys I chew the boxing rag with on occasion, and how they seemed to “belittle” UFC female champion Ronda Rousey almost unanimously when she was brought up. It was as if Ronda had pissed in their beer.

HERBS, INCENSE, MUSIC, BUT NO FLEAS!

When I returned to the Berkeley Flea Market on Sunday, I approached the group with the Rousey naysayers. Some of the anti-RR contingent were playing drums, others sitting on the steps taking in the groove. After debating who was the best between Ray Leonard-Tommy Hearns at (147 lb.) welterweight, the talk went to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

OLD SCHOOL TYPES NOT “SOLD” ON MAYWEATHER

When “Floyd” was passed around the circle, the group was seemingly divided between “old timers” and those under 30. Not surprisingly, the elders thought Leonard and Hearns were better than the Floyd Mayweather Jr. era, while the youngsters, a great majority of which were popping off sans ever seeing Hearns, Leonard or Roberto Duran fight, thought Floyd was superior.

WAITED UNTIL SHORTLY BEFORE “GREAT” MASSAGE

Although I wanted to bring up Ronda Rousey winning the “ESPY Best Fighter Award” right away, I felt in order to get the best, spontaneous response to my Ronda Rousey query, that I had to wait until the time was right.

Mike Tyson & Ronda Rousey

Mike Tyson & Ronda Rousey

San Francisco, CA– Having had my finger on the pulse of the MMA world since shortly after the first UFC show in 1993, and the boxing game decades prior to that, I’ve never seen an athlete, excuse me, a female athlete get under the skin of the opposing sex as Ronda Rousey has.

LET’S TAKE A HARD LOOK AT RONDA

Just 28 years old, the UFC bantamweight (135 lb.) champion from Glendale, CA, while unbeaten in MMA at 11-0, nobody has lasted the distance, be it three-five minute round fights or the championship/main event route of five-five minute sessions of battle. The not hard to look at Miesha Tate lasted 10:58, or :58 seconds into round three.

“ROWDY ONE” NOT RESTING ON JUDO LAURELS

The first American woman to ever Medal in Olympic Judo, Rousey got the Bronze in 2008. She surrounds herself with a team of Armenian judo trainers and the legendary “King of Grappling & SubmissionGene Labell. Retired (unbeaten) female boxer Lucia Ryjker is Ronda’s striking coach.

ROUSEY WILL BE QUEEN OF SILVER SCREEN

Ronda has done movies, TV, made a slew of commercials and six months ago signed a seven $igure pact with Reebok. Her Hollywood future is certain while her continuing to fight is not. Right now, she is the hottest commercial name in combat sports, and that includes Floyd Mayweather, who because of whacking dames around (Domestic Violence) isn’t asked to plug products.

FRANK MIR KO’S TODD DUFFEE & UFC NEWS

TWO HOURS LATER “BIG JOHN” STILL COUNTING DUFFEE

Duffee Out Cold & Dropping

Duffee Out Cold & Dropping

San Francisco, CA– There is nothing in sports quite like two heavyweights throwing punches with bad intentions. Frank Mir and Todd Duffee were matched after the 29-year old Duffee called out the former two-time UFC heavyweight (-265 lbs.) Frank Mir.

MIR-DUFFEE NOTHING BUT “PURE” VIOLENCE

With the 37-year old Mir “rediscovering” himself with new training methods, primarily working in sparring to come out of the gate at 65 MPH. With Mir being a -$160 underdog in Vegas books, the Las Vegan duplicated his training sessions and jumped right on Duffee, landing hard left hand crosses from the start.

YOUNGER MAN WAS SIMPLY “OUT RUMBLED”

Duffee who was thought to be the better rumbler was telegraphing his punches. Time and again Duffee would launch punches that were thrown way too wide, meaning they took too long to connect. Mir’s counterpunching was the key and as Duffee swung a wide hook, Mir countered with a left hand that knocked Duffee out cold as his limp body hit the canvas as referee John McCarthy was “Johnny On The Spot” in rescuing Duffee from undue punishment. KO came at 1:13 of round one. Mir moves to 18-9, while Duffee who hadn’t lost in the UFC, declines to 9-3.

Ronda Rousey 2015 ESPY Best Fighter

San Francisco, CARonda Rousey won the ESPY Award for the “Best Fighter of 2015” at the annual ESPY Awards Wednesday in Los Angeles. The female UFC bantamweight champion Rousey snagged the award over male contemporaries in UFC fighter Donald Cerrone and boxing champions Gennady Golovkin, Terrance Crawford and Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather.

MAYWEATHER CALLED RONDA A “GUY”

After Mayweather spent time in jail for striking a female, Ronda has made him part of her “Stand Up” material when his name comes up. To that Floyd said, “I have no idea who he is.”

DID CONOR MCGREGOR PROVE HIMSELF?

McGregor Finishes Off Game Mendes

McGregor Finishes Off Game Mendes

Los Angeles, CA-The much-discussed Conor McGregor (18-2) got the biggest win of his career against Chad Mendes (17-3) on Saturday night, but just how much did it mean?  Mendes took the fight on about two weeks notice and seemed to gas out after about a round, but Conor was able to capitalize on the situation and defeat his opponent by TKO 2 at 4:57 of round two.

MENDES OWNED CONOR WHILE GRAPPLING

Mendes is one of the best wrestlers in the featherweight (145 lb.) division and was able to take McGregor down 3 times on 4 attempts.  He was unable to avoid the thunderous left hand of the Irishman, which connected and dropped him before McGregor landed a few more to bring a swift end to the contest.

DID MENDES PEN BLUEPRINT ON BEATING CONOR?

McGregor did not look so great on the ground, but was able to weather the storm and landed several hard body kicks to wear down the tough Mendes.  Frankie Edgar (19-4-1) may be a fighter who can exploit Conor’s grappling deficiencies.

INTERIM TITLE ON LINE AT UFC 189

Mendes Will Test McGregor

Mendes Will Test McGregor

Los Angeles, CA- The most anticipated mixed martial arts fight of the year will not take place on Saturday night after all.  Featherweight (145 lb.) champion Jose Aldo (25-1) pulled out of his title defense against Conor McGregor (17-2) after injuring his ribs in sparring.  Two-time title challenger Chad “Money” Mendes (17-2) has stepped in to fight McGregor on two weeks notice for the main event of UFC 189.  While he presents possibly a tougher stylistic match for McGregor than Aldo, Mendes will be filling the same role of “loser” that Aldo would have filled had he not gotten injured.  This is still a must-see fight, and will prove once and for all whether the loud-mouthed “Notorious” is for real.  The UFC is pushing the Irishman really hard, and it is obvious who they want to win this bout.

WELTERWEIGHT (170) STRAP AT STAKE

Champion Robbie Lawler (25-10, 1 NC) will defend his belt against Rory McDonald (18-2) in the co-main.  This is a testament to the drawing power of McGregor, as his interim championship fight is headlining above the legitimate welterweight championship of the world.  Lawler already defeated Canadian McDonald less than two years ago, so this fight reeks of UFC favoritism.

CHRIS BENOIT WWE MURDERS PART 4

AUTOPSY REPORTS WERE SCRUTINIZED

Chris & Nancy Benoit

San Francisco, CA– If case you haven’t read my three prior installments, WWE wrestling star Chris Benoit, 40, making about $600,000 US a year, killed his wife Nancy Benoit, 38, born Nancy Tortellini, a former professional wrestling valet who worked under a number of names, but she was most prominently known as “Woman.” According to the autopsy report, which I have reviewed in full, Nancy died Friday, June 22, 2007 when two ligatures (ropes) were wrapped around her neck and she was strangled to death.

DRUGS IN NANCY BENOIT’S SYSTEM

At the time of her demise, Nancy had been both her wrists and ankles tied together. There was some blood found under her head. This occurred in the upstairs TV room of the Benoit residence located at 170 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville, Georgia. There was blunt force trauma to the head and other parts of the decedents body. Bruises also appeared on the legs, arms, back and right buttock of the victim. Nancy had Hydrocotone in her system, in addition to Xanax. Official cause of death per the report of Fayetteville Medical Examiner John Eisenstat: Strangulation.

DANIEL BENOIT’S AUTOPSY RESULTS

Chris & Daniel Benoit

Daniel Benoit, a seven year old boy born to Chris and Nancy Benoit, it appears he suffered from “Fragile X” syndrome, and at the least was reportedly mildly retarded or autistic. Daniel was killed Saturday, June 23, 2007 as he lay in his bed. He had been given the drug Xanax, an-anti anxiety medication that cause drowsiness or sleep. He was wearing a “Sponge Bob Square Pants” pajama top and multicolored pajama pants.

DEATH SCENE OF BENOIT KID EXTRA CHILLING!

David was found prone on his bed with white foam emanating from his mouth and nose. The blood tests taken showed a Xanax level of 0.11 mg/L. The quantity was significant considering his size, but is not the underlying cause of death which was compression of his of his neck.

BENOIT USED FINISHING MOVE TO FINISH KID?

In layman’s terms, the boys neck was snapped and caused his death. One of Benoit’s finishing moves was the “Crippler Crossface” choke hold. According to Medical Examiner J. Eisenstat, this was the cause of death. Ironically, at one point and time, the WWE compelled Chris to do some television appearances, this because kids imitating the hold both in the US and Canada were causing serious injuries to one another.

Jose Aldo-Chad Mendes

San Francisco, CA– In what was a devastating blow to the UFC brand, Dana White and company finally announced what we’ve known for days: Jose Aldo injured his ribs in training and Chad Mendes will instead face Conor McGregor at UFC 189.

TEAM ALDO PLAYING GAMES EARLY ON?

If you follow this from a chronological point of view, we break it up like this. 1) Team Aldo tried to pull a ruse on Team McGregor when they Tweeted, “Aldo hurt his ribs.” 2) Allegedly later in that same day, Aldo really hurt his ribs.

San Francisco, CA– The New York State Senate has passed a bill legalizing Mixed Martial Arts, the UFC et al, in each of the past six years. After the NY Senate, the bill has went to and died each year in the NY State Assembly.

UFC IN STANDOFF WITH NY & VEGAS UNIONS

The dream of many, especially UFC middleweight king Chris Weidman, a native upstate New Yorker, to stage a UFC event in 2016 appears to be just that, a dream. The sole reason MMA is not welcome in New York is that the Fertitta bros., Frank and Lorenzo, the majority owners of the UFC also have a number of “non-union casinos” in Nevada.

Joanna Brutalizing Penne To Defend Her Belt

Joanna Brutalizing Penne To Defend Her Belt

Los Angeles, CA- UFC strawweight (115) champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-0) added another KO to her resume by stopping Jessica Penne (12-3) in the main event of the latest edition of UFC Fight Night, which was broadcast from O2 World in Berlin, Germany on UFC Fight Pass.  The contest was called to a close in round number 3 at 4:22.  The champ out landed Penne 126-25 in total strikes, and her face reflected that large disparity.   Jedrzejczyk, of Poland, looks like a future star in the UFC if she can keep stringing together dominant wins like this.

SIVER LOSES IN FRONT OF HOME CROWD

In the co-main, veteran featherweight (145) Dennis Siver (22-11, 1 NC) lost a UD to Japan’s Tatsuya Kawajiri (34-8-2).  Both guys are past their best, but Siver may want to think about finding another line of work.  It was his second straight loss and he has gone 1-3, 1 NC in his last 5.  Siver has always been a fun fighter to watch, but his best days are clearly behind him at this point in his career.

WERDUM DESTROYS UFC CHAMP VELASQUEZ

COCKY CAIN “PUNKED” BY WERDUM IN UFC 188

Cain "Taco Truck Owner" Velasquez

Cain “Taco Truck Owner” Velasquez

San Francisco, CA– What a stunner! Cain Velasquez, thought to be the “best cardio” guy in MMA, was sucking air early on before submitting to Fabrice Werdum with a guillotine choke in round three. As indicated by the photo here, Velasquez stopped visiting the Taco truck and instead bought a fleet of them from which he gorged himself during the latest Re Hab stint for the fighter out of the American Kickboxing Academyy in Silicon Valley, USA. Recovering from an injured knee, Cain had to weigh 300 lbs. when this photo was taken around four months ago.

WERDUM RESPECTED MMA & MEXICAN PEOPLE

Newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion Fabrice Werdum, a Brazilian who resides in Los Angeles, realized that the nearly 8,000 foot altitude of Mexico City was as much an opponent as Velasquez himself. So Werdum spent nearly two months in the altitude in order to become acclimated to the “thin” air. Velasquez, in addition to taking off 60 lbs., arrived a little less than two weeks ago. When Werdum brought this up a few weeks ago, most people scoffed thinking nothing the Brazilian could do to derail the now two-time champion. As it turns out, Velasquez wasn’t in the fight until it was over!

WERDUM, CAIN, ARVLOSKI & DOS SANTOS TOP WEAK FIELD

There are a lot of UFC heavyweights, but quantity doesn’t equal quality. Ex-champ Junior Dos Santos who was mangled twice in succession by Velasquez after scoring a quick KO in their first encounter, in all likelihood will get the first shot at the new champion. It was Dos Santos who last beat Werdum in 2010, thus the rematch for the title makes both dollars and sense. Andrei Arvloski, another ex-titleholder is on an impressive win streak as well, thus he could be #1 for Werdum. Regardless, whether it is “AA” or Dos Santos, Werdum would be a significant favorite to beat both men.

Velasquez-Werdum UFC 188

Velasquez-Werdum UFC 188

Los Angeles, CA- UFC heavyweight (265 lb.) champion Cain Velasquez (13-1) returns Saturday night at UFC 188 after a year and a half away from the cage when he faces Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1) at the Mexico City Arena in the Mexican capital for the main event of UFC 188.

CAIN CAN BE MEXICAN GOD LIKE JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ SR.

Velasquez, whose parents are Mexican, will be looking to make a statement against Werdum to send the fans home happy.  With the Mexican demographic the biggest piece of the Pay Per View pie, Cain has the potential to reap record paydays that will not make quite Floyd Mayweather-like money, but the upswing can be worth many millions!

VELASQUEZ-WERDUM TO CAUSE MEXICO CITY QUAKE?

Tune in to this one, folks! this is one of the most compelling fights of the year thus far.  Werdum has improved dramatically since being knocked silly by Velasquez’ punching bag Junior “Everlast” Dos Santos (17-3) in 1:21 back in 2008.  Cain will need to show up in top form, and he will versus the soon to be ex-interim champ. I say Velasquez will put a brutal beating on the Brazilian UNLESS “Octagon rust” and Taco truck visits have ruined the champ.

EX-CHAMPS BATTLE IN POTENTIAL “SUPER FIGHT

Former Strikeforce lightweight (155) champ Gilbert Melendez (22-4) will square off with former Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez (25-4) in the co-main event. Alvarez will stop Gil in a war in front of the Mexican fans there to see the Strikeforce alum.
