Next time Larry Merchant is on, ask him why HBO isn’t running Klitschko fights. It can’t be because fans “can’t tell them apart,” the crap explanation that I’ve read. Are their ratings too low? Do they want too large a fee? I keep HBO almost entirely for boxing, and their running Paulie M. fights rather than heavyweight championship bouts feels like a rip-off to me.
Antonino has a valid point. It seems HBO is now becoming more of a house promoter working with just certain fighters. I would think that a heavyweight championship fight would draw much better than the non Mayweather or Pacman fights.
Of course, the Klitschkos could be pricing themselves out of the market but a specific answer would be nice.
