MODERN TECHNOLOGY BRINGING BOXING FANS TOGETHER

Williamsburg, Virginia- Over the past couple of weeks, I have been aware of how, through modern technology, computers, e-mail, cell phones and social network sites like Facebook, the Family of The brotherhood of Fisticuffs has grown larger and closer than ever before. The sharing of common interests and concerns has created a community of like-minded folks that is simply a wonderful and beautiful thing. And like any family, we don’t always see eye-to-eye on every issue, and yet for the most part we agree to disagree on those things and still get along.

INTERNET IS THE FUTURE OF BOXING NEWS & TELEVISING FIGHTS

It is great to see people brought together by the common denominator of the sport of boxing, and while the sport itself goes through cycles of popularity and favor with the masses, the bond we share grows stronger. When one hurts, we all hurt. When one need is brought to attention, the members of this family respond with grace and with practical applications to meet that need. And as long as one is honest and authentic, no matter our background, creed, or nationality, this community will accept you. Try to take advantage or con one, and you will reap what you sew. This family will take care of it’s own, and in today’s boxing culture that is a remarkable thing.

BOXING IN NEED OF REORGANIZATION?

And while the popularity of the sport proper does as all sport does, ebb and flow with acceptance and favor, as long as the people who make up the family of “Fistiana” continue to be who they are, boxing will always remain. Instinctually members of our tribe seem to know the ethos that you cannot separate who you are from what you do, and in the daily process of living and being , our people change lives for the better. I have seen it first hand, and it is nothing short of the best humanity has to offer. I have been a member of this family since 1976 and have been nurtured as one of it’s own, and in turn try to share this bond and history of it with all. And I see others doing the same. In a world that is hungry for real community, the community we have is open to all who dream and dare to pour self into others.

THE MORAL OF THE PROFESSOR’S WISDOM IS?

Quite simply, it’s just how we roll. All are welcome, many are needed, and because of our people, and their hearts, boxing will always be relevant.
