San Francisco, CA- OK, many people feel Manny Pacquiao has cheated his way to the top of the boxing game by allegedly using Performance Enhancing Drugs. Remember before you blow a cork, he is only suspected of wrongdoing. Across the ring in November from the Philippine phenomenon will be Antonio Margarito, a fighter that cannot get a license in the United States BECAUSE he was caught cheating after inserting a plaster of Paris-like block into his hand wrap January 24, 2009 as he was prepping to fight Shane Mosley.

Congressman-like behavior not, Pacquiao looks like a puppet with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is pulling the strings. Why would this Filipino, an elected member of Congress even want to be involved with a figure as despicable as Margarito?.

A convicted cheat, a man who is suspected of hurting and attempting to maim both Miguel Cotto and Kermit Cintron, and Pacquiao is willing to go to Mexico to fight him, the worst scum in sports. People are more interested in a third fight Juan Manuel Marquez, which could probably make more money than Margarito, but Manny, deep down inside, he fears Marquez.
HISTORIANS WILL FIND IT EASY TO “TRASH” PACMAN
Pac seems to care little about history, as he is too busy listening to Arum and counting the greenbacks, and because of such, Manny Pacquiao will be crucified by sports historians for his refusal to adhere to “random” drug testing, his walking away from a fight with Floyd Mayweather, and that when he was at the top of his game, he went all the way to Mexico to fight a piece of s*it in Margarito, this only because the cheating bastard was denied a license to fight in America!

Well said, but after seeing and hearing what “experts” like dan “the spam” rafael and larry “el douche” merchant and others continue to say about Pacroid, I wouldn’t expect the favourable press to ever change.
Pedro Fernandez is the only journalist in boxing who tells it like it is. This type of article won’t make Pedro any money and I am sure puts his life in danger if he ever travels to the Philippines. Moreover, it disqualifies Pedro from ever getting to interview Manny and many of the Top Rank fighters.
Basically Pacquiao doesn’t care what People think and this would be cool if he didn’t depend on than to buy PPVs. The longer Pacquiao refuses to take random test the more leverage Floyd gets in the negotiations for a future fight.
Pacquiao should remember that Floyd is older, but has taken less punishment than him. It’s not that Pacquiao has any chance of beating Floyd anyway. Pacquiao is playing reverse psychology with his fans in making them think he want to fight Floyd. Deep inside his sould the Pacman doesn’t want to fight Floyd.

He wants Margarito because it’s a payday without risk. He saw the Mosley fight and knows Margo is just a tough guy firing blanks. As for legacy–I don’t know how much any fighters really care about that. Maybe Ali had a sense of “history” (though he never gave Foreman a rematch), but this legacy and all-time ranking stuff is generated by sports reporters and fans. For fighters and their handlers (and promoters!) it’s a way of cranking up interest and gate receipts. BTW, who cares now if Dempsey never fought Langford or Harry Wills?

I think you need only an iota of evidence not a ton to officially claim that Pacman is truly a cheater I will believe in you for life. I will even be the one to campaign here in America that Pacman is a cheater. Otherwise, you stoop so low as a Journalist just to tarnish a boxer’s reputation based on untruth allegations?

The random drug testing is not a rule in the sport of boxing. It is Mayweather’s rule. All fighters in the past have fought without undergoing this special rule, and Pacquiao refuses to be manipulated by this. If so, can Pacquiao then require that for the fight to happen, all of the handlers of the fighter be free from drugs? For boxing sake, Floyd Jr might find himself all alone with nobody to handle him.

We all know PEDs help develop muscle pretty quick, but your heart does not grow proportionally as fast. All that extra tissue needs a constant supply of oxygen, which means that your heart now has to pump more blood through your body. Since your heart won’t be able to meet the increased demand, your stamina goes down the drain. This is more evident at a high performance level. Ask Fernando Vargas. The mere suggestion that PAC used PEDs to enhance his game does not sound plausible. Take him for what he is.

Me, I enjoyed the Mayweather-Mosely fight live at the MGM Grand for as long as it lasted (2 rounds) and was amazed what Mayweather did to stifle Mosely’s attack. I had a blast and had no problem paying for a clean fight.
But I have a problem paying for (and seeing) any other type of fight. I’ll going to pass and move on to other things until another clean fight is signed…

Pedro, you shouldn’t call Pac a cheater, when the suggestion that he’s on performance-enhancing drugs is based on nothing more than the fact that his performance is so terrific! There’s a better explanation for why Pac is the best, when formerly he was only excellent: it’s that he’s now got first-rate boxing skills to go with his power and his speed.
Anyway, I do agree with you that Bob Arum is no good for Pac. Some of the ideas Bob comes up with (Yuri Foreman as an opponent for Pac???) just make you shake your head. The idea of having Pac fight Margo is ridiculous. Stripped of his special handwraps, Margo was completely exposed by Mosely, and all his high-profile wins of recent years now get an asterix. Pac has nothing to gain, and if he looses, alot to lose from fighting this guy. If Pac can’t get Chicken-Floyd into the ring, then he should either hang them up or fight other top guys. Here are the best choices:
#1 Tim Bradley at 140 (because Pac has never fought him and Bradley is the best at 140);
#2 Juan Manuel Marquez at 135 and no higher (great matchup but only second-best choice because Pac and JMM have already fought twice).
If Margacheeto fights Pac man.I will tell all my freinds not to buy it.

while i usually give fighters the benefit of the doubt, it’s just hard to ignore the assumptions of boxing scribes. I mean when boxing scribes make assumptions, they do kind of have an over hunred year old control variable. ow i know stuff happens all the time that’s new to the boxing world. Boxers elevate their game every generation. Even when saying boxing accomplishments are amazing. it still means that they are within the realm of possibility, according to historical standards. But when you have a good number of people well versed in a sport saying that what someone does is beyond impossible……

There is far too much money and too many interested parties on either side of this debate for me to take any argument seriously without substantial proof. As for Margarito….fuck him, I will watch that fight just to see Manny destroy him. Do I think Margarito deserves that fight? Nope. Do I think he is capable of beating Manny? Not a chance. Tony, since you seem to know a lot about the rules of boxing, what’s your take on the catch weight and 10 million dollars per pound over the division’s limit? As for the handlers taking drug tests, what do you think of Ariza, Roach and those trained by them who have been caught doping? What about the fact that you’re accusing Pedro of not giving proofs when accusing Pac of roiding but you’re unable to supply any regarding Money’s people. Have any of them been caught doping or has Floyd ever done something so out of ordinary that people might think he could be using “something”. In other words has Floyd ever struggled with very ordinary fighters, got KO’d, only to turn around and look like superman as soon as hooking up with a new trainer, whose fighters are known to use illegal substances? one thing to add on, just look at the guy who is sparring with Pacroid, Chavez Jr, another Top Rank fighter. He is just coming off a 6 month suspension for using PED’s. there is always a link between PED’s and Freddie Roach, Bob Arum, from the James Toney and the other guys.
Pacroid is using steroids and is a cheat. He has little boxing skills and every punch Clottey threw landed on his face. The only thing he has is the extra “boost” from the PED’s. To hell with PACROID and Arum.

I’m astonished that no one (yet) has decided to look further into Roach’s (PED?) Factory. A good trainer can teach skills to a good/promising fighter but won’t be able to turn the guy into a beast by using legal means of training. Now, what’s absolutely bizarre is that as soon as these guys get in “the Factory”, their power grow considerably, the chin becomes stronger, the speed increases, the stamina is no longer a concern as they could box at a frenetic pace for 30 rounds without ever getting tired. Miracle?
What a joke. Margo doesn`t deserve a title fight and what was the other option Arum was trying to sell? A rematch with Cotto? I wouldn`t watch let alone pay for either of those fights.

Don’t forget the “conspiracy” betweem WBC and Arum. Martinez vacates at 154, because the big money fight is w/ Cheato, but Arum turned it down. Funny how that same now vacant belt gets served up to Top Rank fighters who did nothing to get “ranked” at 154. The Vegas/Roid issue is now plain to see too. Dana White of UFC pretty much killed the “Olympic Style Random Testing” issue there. Other sites are reporting how the money generated from this fight WILL be the determining factor in Vegas giving Cheato a 1 fight exception. If Manny goes to Mexico to fight Marg. as far as I am concerned, he is done. I support Manny and I support his stance against Mayweather (and I am from Mich) wanting His-Way testing BUT I do not agree with him fighting Marg. anywhere, until he has received a USA license. Marg. should have been banned from boxing (as well as any team member present) for their actions. Arum as a promoter is obligated to attempt to get Marg. the best deal for the most money (so Arum probably gets a lions share anyway) but, that is his job for his fighters, right or wrong.
Your question is quite interesting: why is Pacquiao even fighting with a cheater like Margarito? Well I guess that is a very question but similar questions can also be ask like:
1. Why was Mayweather even fight a cheater name Shane Mosley?
2. Why did Donaire collaborates with the controversial PED/steroid manufacturer, Vic Conte? Isn’t there something suspicious about this?

whether or not you agree that Margarito should even be allowed to continue fighting, that aside, he has done absolutely nothing to deserve this opportunity. He has fought once since then. And this fight will be for the WBC 154lb title. HBO should be ashamed of themselves if they are somehow involved, especially if it’s held in Mexico because Margarito can’t obtain a US liscence. I am not as harsh as others and think he has the right to re-apply for a license and boxing is his own livelihood. I just don’t think Arum has handled this with any sort of integrity. There’s other fighters who fight clean and deserve the opportunity more. If you are going to keep it him house let him fight Cotto. At least Cotto is a clean fighter who actually coming off a victory against a credible opponent.

The other day I was watching bullfighting for the first time in my live (from Spain)on Justin TV. The commentators and the crowd were complaining about the quality of the bulls. The commentators were saying how the fans in Madrid want the bulls to be full fledge, meaning tall, with strong legs, and torso, but most importanly aggressive.
The bulls never win. Even if they injured a matador there is another matador ready to deliver the kill. The matador has an entourage to weaking the bulls. Bull are made to run, and are stabbed on the upper shoulders to weaken them before facing the Matador in the final stage where the bulls are killed.
I say those bulls should be given steroids to even the odds a little. People pay to see blood, but give those bulls fighting chance.
In Manny’s case he should prove he is cleaned because unlike the bulls the odds are not against him since boxing is man to man with even rules (at least on paper). By taking steroids Manny’s opponents has as much of a chance as the bulls in bullfighting, practically none.
Agreed, Mayweather Vs. Martinez, or Mayweather Vs. Berto or Bradley. Or Berto Vs. Bradley. Williams Vs Cintron should be made again and the winner of that should fight any of the above. I thought that Williams Vs. Cintron was shaping up nicely before the accident.

That’s my point. Arum intended to keep Pac’s next fight in house the whole time he was saying he was “negotiating” with PBF. There was no negotiation, Arum laid out his demands and just wanted a response. Arum then got the WBC to sweeten the deal between his his 2 fighters because now it’s for a Paper championship which they forced from Martinez. Margarito took the number 1 WBC spot after fighting a guy not ranked in the top 10. It was set up for Chavez jr, after the Duddy fight, but no one would buy a Jr. Vs Pac fight, so the WBC bumped up Margarito. This pisses me off everytime I think about it. I never thought Cotto was credible though, his previous “belts” were won in fights for Vacant titles. He never beat a “Champ” for their belt. The same Arum plan played over and over and still no one catches on.

Arum knew this, therefore he “negotiated” in bad faith. No details of what Team Pac offered were made public. Arum set this up from the begining. The JuanMa and Gamboa fight looks interesting, don’t know who to go with on that one. On another note, Bradley’s opinion is just as good as everyone else’s. The only way to prove for sure is Random Olympic Style testing w/ no cut off, but Pac never agreed to it and he never will. I don’t care about Pac vs Margarito. The funny thing is that Manny is a polititian who is suppose to set an example to the public. In the US I guess most people don’t know he is a congressman,but in the Philippines everybody know. Neither did Mosley, so why is he called a cheater when he was never caught? You can beat those tests. If Mosley was able to, you don’t think others aren’t able to? Landis dropped the dime on how cyclists were beating the system. The WADA and AADA agencies knew they were cheating, but could not prove it. Landis provided that information.
