San Francisco, CA- Americans often frown on third world countries in regards to cultural issues. That being said, both Mexico and the Philippines, neither seem to have morals, ethics, or even the slightest regard for right and wrong when it comes to sports. At the center of the hurricane is Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino fighter who can fight anybody he wants in the world, yet he has apparently decided to fight a “banned” at the moment fighter in Antonio Margarito.
CONGRESSMAN PACQUIAO, CAN HE NOT SPELL “ETHICAL?”
Either Pacquiao is an incredibly ignorant man or his handlers have sold his soul to Bob Arum for an undisclosed amount of money. Personally, I think it’s both. Manny’s not very smart and after spending $6 million (US) to get elected to the Philippine Congress, he probably needs the money. But if you had the boxing world by the short hairs, why would you want to fight Margarito when he was poised and ready to do Billy Collins-like damage to Shane Mosley?

Margarito was caught concealing these cast-like blocks in his hand wraps. When the California Commission was told by Naz Richardson, Mosley’s handler, that they needed to needed to unwrap his already wrapped hand, this because Mr. Richardson was not present (as he’s permitted to be) when the hand was wrapped. Team Margarito argued, they were adamant that they were not unwrapping the hand. We found out why when the cement-like block was found in his wrapping.
COTTO SAYS MARGARITO USED TECHNIQUE TO MAR HIM
Although he rarely says it publicly, Miguel Cotto is certain in his mind that Margarito busted him up in July 2008 with the aid of “loaded” hand wraps that he feels “got by” the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Speaking of the NSAC, word within the offices of a rival promoter this AM is that “Nevada is close to licensing Margarito.” On that note, I bring you the late Billy Collins, who was beaten with “loaded” gloves.

When I called the California Commission last week, the feeling in regards to Margarito and Arum was not good. They took away his license, they are the ones who should have the final say here, not Nevada, not Bob Arum, and certainly not Jose Sulaiman. California is looking at a number of options, one might be trying to suspend Top Rank “nationally” through the Assn. of Boxing Commissions, this should they try and promote a fighter that they have not approved after they took his license.

With middle of the night press conferences, setting up and imposing false deadlines on Floyd Mayweather, the admitted Felon, Harvard graduate and Top Rank skipper Bob Arum is amazing even at almost 80. I just sat back and watched how he put the media on a leash and took them for a walk. Without issuing a blanket indictment, none of you, and I mean none did any homework. Instead, you listened to and then rewrote every word Arum put forth on your websites and blogs.

WBC President Jose Sulaiman, he has made Margarito, who hasn’t fought since January 2009 and his TKO (shutout) loss to Mosley, the #1 contender for the vacant 154 lb. world title. To show you how much of a Superman Manny Pacquiao isn’t, he is demanding Margarito weigh 150 lbs. even though this is a 154 lb. title fight!

Let’s recap things. 1. Manny Pacquiao, a Philippine Congressman, will fight a weight drained (and convicted cheater) Antonio Margarito because he is “scared shi*less” of Juan Manuel Marquez. Arum and Pac could have waited to see who wins the Marquez-Diaz rematch, as many more fans would rather see Pac-Marquez III than Pac and Margacheato. But it ain’t about the fans. 2. The Nevada Commission is said to be licensing Margarito. 3. The WBC awards Margacheato the #1 ranking at 154, even though he was caught cheating last time out and hasn’t fought in 18 months.

Filipinos should be aghast that Pac is fighting such a man who has commited the worst act in boxing, loading up gloves. Mexicans should be ashamed of Margarito, not hail him as a hero. But then, we are talking about a country that is run by Narco-Terrorists. That we are even discussing Antonio Margarito fighting again should be a crime in itself. If Pac ever fights a Thrilla in Manilla, it will produce an earthquake that will shake the faultlines all the way to California! How do you justify Pac fighting for a title that was FORCED off of the True Champ Martinez? Morals, ethics, these aren’t important. What’s important is to make money. If people could get away with holding a real death match on tv, they would do it, citing that “Hey, the athletes know what they signed up for, if they die, it’s not our fault!”.
If you include morals and ethics in sports, then which set would they have to follow? There are different standards of morals and ethics all over the world, varying between cultures. Setting “rules” on what is more universally accepted would be appropriate. Of course, you can expect these rules to have also factored in the potential to make money.
In the end, money is what sports is all about. You enter mainstream sports to earn money. You train your body and mind the right way to have the ability to get in there and show them you are worth the dollars they are paying you. Fighting for the “country’s honor” is just a side effect of fighting for money.
So Margarito is fighting Pacquiao which is a fight worth watching unlike a bunch of garbage fights we been exposed to all year long. The funny thing about it is that per Pedro it’s the Narco Terrorist’s fault this fight is coming to frutition.
Since nobody reads his MMA crap stories he’s got to write about Margarito and Pacman which is how he gets interest from boxing fans and obviously lots of comments.

Pedro, was Margarito suspended. It was my recollection that his license was revoked. This is the reason that other commissions have refered Margarito back to California. I think using the wrong term “suspended” minimizes the punishment.

He is idolized by most Filipinos because of his heart, his skills and his achievements in the boxing world…Just like when we looked up to Michael Jordan. but putting the whole country into perspective about ugly decisions by athletes, is just so wrong. Why doesn’t Pac fight Paul Williams at 154 for the WBC title? Oh I forgot the WBC is based on Mexico, Margarito is Mexican, he was already beaten Williams, thus he gets a shot at Pacman for a bogus 154 pound belt in a fight fought at 150 lbs? It is a fair question. Yeah, but he was called and asked to decide by the end of the day, how often does that happen? 2 div champs by the same organization are usually given a year to decide. What do you expect from an org. that extorts fighters gloves and shorts and puts them up for auction? As for Pac, Usually an Org. will give a lighter champ an opportunity to move up as long as they have the Org’s belt at the lighter weight, but Pac has the WBO belt. So, the WBC made an exception? Of course not. Not that what I think has any relevance. They aren’t breaking the law… especially if they decide to fight in Mexico. Who said life is fair. Maybe they California should suspend Arums promoters license? Maybe that may send a message, however boxing generates so much money in Nevada and other states and Top Rank is a big promoter so that may not be in the best financial interest for other state commissions to uphold the ruling. Why even have an associated Boxing commissions if the commissions will just decided to do what suits them . I agree that Bob Arum is a snake….was watching Sports Century on Marvin Hagler, and they talked about how Marvin knew he should retire/stay retired, didn’t want to fight again, so Arum drives and shows up at his house to convince him to fight Ray Leonard…..Leonard comes off like a bit of a snake in that special too, in his own words, not even b/c of how it’s edited.
Pedro, Manny Pacquiao fighting Marquez is a good fight but Marquez has to beat Diaz first. And even if he Diaz it is still very hard for Marquez to have the fight just because there are better boxers to fight financially wise. If Mayweather continues to be afraid of Pacquiao and other, better opponents are not available, then Marquez has a chance of fighting Pacquiao.

Who said D.Diaz was good? Besides, it was supposed to be Juan Diaz, then Team Pac pulled the bait and switch. The best option for Pac at 147 was Mosley at the time and Pac didn’t want anything to do with him. The Cotto-Clottey exposed both of them. I remember pac said that 147 is his limit, so fighting margarito to a catchweight of 150 is some sort of a test for him. ok, i too dont recognize this as a title fight. forget the belt, i just want to see the fight, thats all. And if u said cotto took a bad beating, then so do mosley, mosley has been to more hell of a fight than cotto, and is older than cotto. just take a look at pbf vs mosley fight, had it pac out there in front of mosley, hes lucky to see rd. 3. To any casual fight fan, cotto is the better match-up for pac.

Like Pedro said. Forrest did not KO Mosley. As for Clottey, in ‘06 he faded vs Cheato and ‘07 couldn’t put a faded and overweight Corrales away. His win over Zab was somewhat impressive, except for everyone knows if Zab can’t hurt you, he gets discouraged and flustered. Then he totally blew the Cotto fight. MAB had issues in the first fight. His training camp kept getting broken up. First there was the Texas commission bothering him every couple weeks because of the metal plate in his head, and then there were the fires in Big Bear, where he was training. MOrlaes beat him the 1st time and gave away the final round by switching to lefty and trying to play with Pac. The 2nd & 3rd fights Morales was weight drained and dehydrated. Fighting Cheato at 147 is not a test for him, it’s a test of how blind his fans are. I’ll bet you $ that his fans will flood the message proclaiming him the GOAT saying that he won another belt at 154. Mosley never took a beating as bad as Cotto, where he stopped throwing punches and was on his bicycle.

Pac is a sucker for a right hand, just look at what he gets hit with. Styles make fights, and that’s what Pac fans forget. That’s why Pac don’t fight African American fighters who fight in a “slick” style. To say Pac would have beat Mosley just because PBF did shows lack of Boxing knowledge. That means that anyone who beat Torrecampo, Singsurat and Morales would beat and KO Pac too then, right? By your logic it would. Except for that Pac KO’d D.Diaz who beat Morales (I didn’t think he did though), but who would buy a 4th Morales vs Pac fight? Most writers aren’t full time boxing writers. They don’t analyze fight or think for themselves, it’s like mob mentality, they all just follow each other. They award the popular guy because they are afraid of the popularity of MMA, yet they cut their own throats. If Pac wanted to “champ” at 154 he would have fought Martinez. If he wanted to really be “champ” at 147 he would have fought Mosley, who was the real champ. Remember Cotto got his belt in a vacant fight between him and Jennings. WTF did Jennings do to deserve a shot at a “vacant” belt. Mosley destroyed Cheato, the guy that destroyed Cotto and took Cotto’s belt. He was not fast anymore, and became predictable, the reason why pbf had an easy time with him. And PAC fighting Martinez at 154, there is no debate here for i myself believe that PAC would not win, at 147 maybe pac will fight Martinez. But Martinez is not that black american/african type of fighter, so another excuse for you, pedro & all the pachaters, id rather see him against berto/alexander/bradley. Mosley KO’d Cheato and Cotto couldn’t, in fact he took a beating with him, where Mosley did not. If anything, the Mosley fight and the Cheato fight which both took place before the Pac fight, damaged Cotto’s chin. Cotto never had 1 punch KO power. Mosley’s age showed in PBF fight because he got tired. He was still fast and strong, didn’t you see the punch that almost KO’d PBF? Mosley can’t deal with a Jab, see the Forrest fights. When Mosley tried to use his, PBF countered it. Mosley always becomes predictable when he can’t get in range and set his punches, see Forrest, Winky and PBF fights. Plus Mosley didn’t follow Richardson’s instructions. Pac doesn’t have the long reach and use his jab like Forrest and Winky. Pac has a style that would give Mosley a good chance of winning, so Team Pac turned him down because of FEAR.

Right, Martinez is not an African American fighter, but he is the TRUE 154 champ. Look we’ve been through this before, but here it goes again. Pac went after the old Lions: MAB, Morales, JMM. That’s cool, because that’s boxing. But they were on the decline, there is no doubt about it (except for JMM, who though older was not in wars like the other 2). Pac cherry picked Larios, Solis, Diaz (paper champ), Hatton (beaten up), and Cotto (Beaten up). In Clottey, Team Pac knew his flaw was that he only threw 35 punches/round. Arum rolled the dice with Clottey because he is a Top Rank fighter, they could have made a Willaims or Cintron fight. Pac also ducked out on many young top challengers at 126, 130 and 135. Of course Pac fans argue that he went after the named yet OLDER fighters.

i told u, there is no debate w/ regards to 154 lbs. pac would not beat any contender at 154, thats too big for him. If and if he manage to beat a top 154 guy, drug issue will surface again, cause they would say, “how come he beat a bigger/stronger guy?” And everyboxer has its own “Larios”, “Solis”, & “Diaz” fight. Now tell who hasnt? Even the great SRR/SRL/Duran/Hearns/Ali…etc. has their own “cherry pick” fight. Name me one fighter who fought only the best opponent availble during their career. Even the late Valero, with all his ko victims, name me one top fighter that he beat. How many top “at their prime” dog that PBF beat? OK, I’m cool with the Pac can’t beat a top contender at 154 thing. Then explain to the rest of Pac fans that this fight with Cheato for the 154 title at a catch-weight is BS. I don’t care if they fight, but not for a 154lb title. Yeah, everyone picks an opponent every now and then, but team Pac does it fight after fight. Valero never beat a top fighter, because they were afraid to fight him. Morales was beat up in sparring, MAB was his friend, Pac passed on him too, and Arum wanted to use JMM as Valero’s stepping stone. Arum had both Valero and Pac under contract and he could have made that fight, but Roach and Pac were scared. I don’t defend PBF either, I have been was one his foremost critics. Cotto and Hatton should of had more than 1 loss when they fought Pac. Cotto got a gift vs Mosley (I think) and was saved in his fight with Corley in Puerto Rico after he was alomost KO’d. Cotto got a TKO because he pushed Corley down. Hatton was allowed to foul repeatedly vs Tszyu in England, was given a gift vs Collazo, and was saved vs Lazcano when he was hurt because his shoe lace came untied. His corner untied it in between rounds. Cotto and Hatton were never that good to begin with, that’s how.
