MANNY PACQUIAO TRAINING CAMP UPDATE

February 25th, 2010 By Pedro Fernandez

PACMAN AT “WILD CARD” FIVE WEEKS NOW!

Los Angeles, CA- The ‘best fighter pound for pound’ in boxing, Manny Pacquiao, Filipino and boxing icon that he is, has been here at the “Wild Card” gym now for over a month as he preps for a March 13 date with Joshua Clottey on HBO PPV emanating from Dallas, TX. A former champ at 112, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, and now the king at 147 lbs, Pacman is a 3-1 favorite over the fighter from Ghana.

MANNY CAME TO CAMP LIGHT…SO…

Having arrived in L. A. at 149 lbs, trainer Freddie Roach has scaled back the sparring for Clottey as he feels the Pacman arrived in pretty good condition and is afraid of “burn out.” Sparring with guys like Shawn Porter, Mike Dallas, and Ray Beltran, Manny has had his good days and bad. The only ailment Manny has had to deal with in camp is that last week his legs cramped up on a couple of occasions.

  2. Lol!!!!!!!! I heard Pac injured his leg in training. The body starting to break down already from all that “abuse”??? If you know what i mean. Ahhhh! The after effects of what those things do to your body. Just like what happened to james toney, he ripped his biceps, tore his achilles, and the body just started breaking down after all his roid abuse.

  3. Two more weeks till the fight i think i want to see what happens in the fight to see the comments….I can imagine this if Pacman wins by ko..Did you see how big his head has gotten from those roids? Did you see how big those muscles were? Those roids made him so fast Clottley couldnt see the punches coming!I cant believe he knocked him over the top rope with that uppercut! MArch 14th and 15th I will be checking this site frequently lol…….

  4. yeah joseph, just like pbf when he injured his rib when he was preparing for JMM, you know what i mean, dont u? The after effects of what those things do to your body, as u said

  5. nice to see a pac article where you’re not hating on pac. was this so hard to write?

  6. When prettyboy Floyd Money Mayweather destroys mosley, I have a feeling pacman is gonna retire out of fear!!!!! I think PAC is the one who’s afraid?

  7. I think some fans just think emotionally as opposed to rationally. In fact, I have difficulty calling such types “fans”. Let’s face it, many sound like the cooing young females that would cry and get all light headed-ed around The Beatles, New Kids on the Block, et al.

    Lol!

Rubber Warrior on February 26th, 2010 at 11:19 AM
  8. Pac fears no man in his own size range! Pac is hero and an all-time great for taking on very tough individuals who are much larger than himself, a feat which most other guys including Pbf are reluctant even to attempt.

whiner on February 26th, 2010 at 12:36 PM
  9. All I know is pbf did all he could made all concessions to make the fight. He asked only one resonable request true random testing. Manny didn’t want to now I must ask why? For integrity? If u question a mans integrity 99 out of 100 will go to any length to prove their worth. Now do I think manny is on roids. No but maybe he and roach are concerned about a fight with this generations greatest!!! If they get in the ring pbf is gonna make manny look like an amature!!!!

  10. Man i hate to admit it, but if he did hurt his leg that does ring the bell once again.

I am amazed to recall the years i used to follow baseball, and now realize how many guys were actually juicing reguraly. Its so funny and obvious from the rise and quick decline of their stats. The most tell tale sign is when after three stellar superhuman years of 40 homers and 130 RBI’s, they are on the Disabled List for the next 2 years, and eventually end up sitting the bench with a 100 million dollar contract hitting .220 with 3 homers and 30 rbi’s ala Jason Jiambi, Sosa, Tejada, and the list goes on and on. Look at Manny Ramirez now, he cant play a full season because he keeps getting injured, and we wouldnt have known until he got busted

In boxing Mosley couldnt perfrom after the juice, James Toney keeps breaking down, Evander nearly died in the ring due to heart failure, and i am sure if we examined other boxers who shined like shooting stars out of nowhere only to fall off the face of the earth shortly thereafter, we could make some pretty strong conclusions about their performance.

  11. rubber warrior, your comment is pretty darn accurate. no those types aren’t fans, they’re groupies.

ironhammer on February 26th, 2010 at 3:45 PM
  12. Sure Clottey would like to win but not as much as the payday
So therefore of course he wouldn’t demand blood tests as did Floyd because Floyd is as concerned with his ego as he is his pocketbook.
Pac will continue to fight lesser opponents as long as he does not have to submit to stricter drug testing that would expose him. So he can continue to fight lesser boxers as long as they don’t also demand said testing.
Pac could not compete on the higher levels without his doping.

sixjal on February 26th, 2010 at 11:46 PM
  16. sixjal, my thoughts exactly. when was the last time fmj destroyed ANYONE, much less a guy like shane that has never been destroyed by anyone? sometimes you have to just laugh at the trolls and groupies on boards like this. but make sure you don’t feed them.

  17. Hammer ur such a jocker don’t u notice nobody adresses u ur always trying to reach out to somebody!! Damn at least if I’m a jocker I jock rich famous people u jock retards like urself it’s so funny!! When I’m down and feal bad I just think of u and I laugh my ass off. Oh and by the way pbf is a 5 division top pfp undefeated world champ. Who r u a loser putting everybody down for what u are not strong sucessful couragous people. Ur a wimp and so is ur penpal. Pbf the goat!!!!!!

Roberto rios on February 27th, 2010 at 3:13 PM
  18. tpc,

what do u mean lesser opponents? did u compare both pac & pbf’s last 10 fights?
take a good look & see who has fought lesser opponents, b4 pbf vs mosley was made, mayweather’s camp is thinking paulie m. or m. hatton, a big joke, isnt it? why not pwill instead, i think he is the most dangerous WW out there. even i think that p will will be too much for pac

dencio on February 27th, 2010 at 6:14 PM
  19. Robert, check your nose I think it has a brown ring around it from being so far up Floyd’s ass.

Brian on February 27th, 2010 at 7:26 PM
  20. Steroids do not help a boxer in regards to timing and reflexes. You still need the skills. Steroids did not help Fernando Vargas against DeLaHoya and it did not help Mosely in his second fight against Oscar either. In fact, he performed worse the time he used roids.

Nelson on February 28th, 2010 at 10:56 AM
  21. I think Pacquiao should retire after the clottey fight. He is never going to agree to olympic style drug testing. Never

Tommy on February 28th, 2010 at 1:51 PM
  22. Of course he won’t, Tommy. Why should Pacquiao agree to something that isn’t even required by the boxing commissions? And he’s juiced because floyd sr says so? Jeez. People are wondering why he walked out of a 25M dollar fight. Know what? Because he can. And if that means not having to put up with a self-propagandizing but mediocre trainer and his band of nuts, then kudos to him.

I agree he should retire, though. He’s not in serious debt, and he’ll go out being recognized as the best of the past decade because of the quality of his fights. Not bad at all.

George Larson on March 1st, 2010 at 1:09 AM
  23. i think thats funny, pac should retire at the peak of his popularity because he won’t cater to baby floyd’s games and arrogant demands from out of nowhere. really funny.

ironhammer on March 1st, 2010 at 1:35 AM
  24. Brian clean ur hair, take ur head out ur azz. That’s where it’s been why u hating because I say pbf is the best? It’s the truth until somebody proves otherwise. Undefeated five division pfp perinial champ!!!!!!! Ur the type of person that said he won’t fight mosley and PAC. Now he is fighting mosley and when he wins you’ll say oh mosley was old. And then when he schools PAC you’ll say PAC was small. Come on man just be honest

Roberto rios on March 1st, 2010 at 7:11 AM
  25. Let’s get destruction right. Boxing is scored on a point system so when a football team wins by 30 points it’s a destruction no? Or if a basketball team wins by 40 points is that not destruction? Pbf is gonna win 9 to 10 rounds vs mosley =ing destruction. And in that case to answer when has mosley ever been destroyed? Forrest 1 and winnky 1?

Roberto rios on March 1st, 2010 at 7:17 AM
  26. george, you beat me to it. :) and yeah, if pac retires, it should be on his terms, not because a fight with baby floyd fell through.

as for mosley, the guy has never been knocked out and he took rematches that he didn’t have to take with forrest and winky (both possesed physical advantages over shane that fmj doesnt have) and he fared much better the second time. although why explain this to some blind idiot nuthugger? if mayweather wins a fight that he is heavily favored to win over a 38 year old fighter that hasn’t fought in a year and a half, big fkg deal. all i have to say is, ABOUT TIME. but if he loses…

ironhammer on March 1st, 2010 at 4:38 PM
  27. the question for this ass backwards clown with reading difficulties above, wasnt when ssm has ever been destroyed, it was when the last time fmj destroyed anyone. learn to read.

only a floyd groupie would consider his running around for 12 rounds and potshotting opponents as destroying them. is a knockout too much to ask from the *greatest fighter that ever laced up gloves?*

ironhammer on March 1st, 2010 at 9:56 PM
  28. Robert, your wrong there, I have never said Floyd was a coward or afraid of anybody. In fact I have said Floyd would probably beat PAC and Mosely. I’m not a PAC fan nor a Mosely fan, I’m just a casual boxing fan. However I disagree with your assessment of Floyd as “GOAT”.

It’s fine if Floyd wants to cherry pick fighters and make money as he winds down his career as long as he recognizes that is what he is doing. But Floyd is/was Cherry picking and trying to justify those fights all while saying he was the best P4P. Then when all of us supposed haters called him out for it all of a sudden it was becasue he was black and then we bcame racists.

If the fight goes through with Mosely and if Floyd beats him I wont offer up any excuses about Moselys age, after all the two fighters most wanted Floyd to face were Pac and Mosely. All I can say is it is about time Floyd finally stepped up after all he didnt have much choice. Any small amount of credibility he had woulld have been lost with a Paulie or Hatton fight

Brian on March 1st, 2010 at 10:56 PM
  29. the problem with rios is, he can’t read. so he does a lot of putting words into peoples mouths and repeating what they said completely backwards. so it ends up being a lot of repeating what was said and explaining what you meant over and over like you’re talking to a 2 year old.

i’d pick fmj over both also, but would expect both to be competitive and would not be shocked at an upset in either fight. but in the eyes of a sick nuthugger, and one that cannot read, predicting that floyd would pot shot his way to an unspectacular *victory* over 2 future hall of fame fighters is “hating on the guy, etc.”

fmj is not the greatest of all time or close, but remember, this guy admitted earlier in the thread to “jocking” rich and famous people. probably living vicariously through them actually, to make up for shortcomings in his own life. thats usually how it works. but i would love to know how that sad poster “boxing_guru,” whose nuts rios has a hold on tight, fits into the “rich and successful” category. he’s just some silly student. seems that guy ran and hid when mosley (who he has slammed on this site for over a year for using steroids) agreed to take the tests his hero, pacquiao would not.

ironhammer on March 2nd, 2010 at 4:14 AM
  30. I just say goat to piss some dummies off!! Don’t take it serious. My atg list has Floyd way down. I just think u give the devil his due and the kid is a great fighter

Roberto rios on March 2nd, 2010 at 7:00 AM
  31. Iron-homo still reaching out? Do u need attention or a hug? U can hug my nutz ur boxing IQ is borderline retarded!!!! I gave examples of Shane getting destroyed on a points system. If it happened once it can happen again. Iron-homo urthe court jester of this site man. I’m actualy starting to feel spry for u

Roberto rios on March 2nd, 2010 at 7:13 AM
  32. And for the record manny is way higher on my pfp atg list than floyd!!!! What manny has done is almost mirraculous I don’t think I’ll ever see anyone of his Ilk lace up gloves again!!!!!!! But if manny and pbf fight I’d be forced to go pbf I just think he is more versitile. But to be honest the only reason all of us r salivating to see this fight is because they both have a good chance to win!!!

Roberto rios on March 2nd, 2010 at 7:25 AM
  33. yeah, brian, this rios clown has thrown out the race card as well many times when he gets in over his head and has no argument. even accusing me of being a huge malignaggi and pavlik fan from out of the blue when i have never commented on those fighters here — except to say i can’t stand paulie. i’m starting to feel sorry for the guy because i can’t take anything that he says seriously. my question is, if i root for ssm over fmj, am i still a racist? or just a hater of fmj? i give fmj zero credit for fighting ssm. he is SUPPOSED to fight the best, isn’t he?

ironhammer on March 2nd, 2010 at 1:37 PM
  34. and if you look at earlier posts in the thread you’ll see this guy and his dickriding/disrespect of other fighters in multiple posts and mostly he’s getting ignored. then he starts in with the personal attacks to try and get some attention. the best way to handle trolls like this is never to address them directly. that drives them crazy. i really cant take anyone seriously when they claim fmj will destroy both pac and ssm when he 1)hasnt destroyed anyone in years and 2)someone is trying to call him GOAT but disrespects all his opponents.

ironhammer on March 2nd, 2010 at 1:52 PM
  35. I don’t like Paulie much either, he’s like Floyd and talks to much.

Fighters like Mayorga, Toney & Floyd all disrespect their opponent to much for my likeings and then don’t/can’t back up what they say. I understand they are trying to sell the fight but they go way to far IMHO. How many times in a row do we have to hear Floyd or the others he will demolish an opponent, knock them the F**K out and then pot shot his way to victory. You can only cry wolf so many times.
I have no problem with a fighter be confident in their abilites and beliveing they will win but come on as Ironhammer said when is the last time Floyd destroyed an opponent. He couldnt even put Glass Chin Zab to sleep.

Brian on March 2nd, 2010 at 10:52 PM
  36. can agree with Brian on the fact that if u say ur gonna deliver a ko then u better do ur damnest to do it. But also as a saleman pbf is pushing interest in a product that might not be. Example for simpltons like iron-homo, when u got to a food joint and see pictures of the food let’s say a burger they show this juicy wonderful patty with the greenest lettuce amd rippest tomato beautiful bun it’s perfect and symetrical!!! Then when u get it it’s all discombobulated lol and ur like WTF. That’s the point of sale to peak ur interest in a product even as to show something that isn’t what it presents itself to be. His performances have left much to be desired at times. But some have been super skillful and artful. If anybody notices I never rave on his performances, I just refuse to frown on the mans acomplishment when he earned them and there are sooo many. But I think it’s more than obvious he better sparkle in his next couple of fights!!!!!

Roberto rios on March 3rd, 2010 at 11:30 AM
  37. I don’t frown on his accomplishments either but for me Floyd has already cried wolf to many times and is no longer believable. I know if he wins it will most likely be a UD becasue he wont bring it.

About a year ago I went to Backyard Burger and ordered my usual for take out. I got home and the waffle fries were stale and the burger looked as if it was put into a press it was so flat. I’ve never have been back to that place or any other Backyard Burger. To me Floyd is that Backyad Burger.

Brian on March 3rd, 2010 at 10:59 PM
  38. Damn Bri-man he realy pissed u off? I’ll be honest for most people they don’t find his style very entertaining but not everybody is born with bonecrushing power and the kids hands are pretty brittle which I think can atest for the potshoting. Earlier he would blend combos with his great D. But I still love to watch him the footwork shoulder roll fients speed ring pressence there is alot to like it depends how u look. But if u ate the pbf burger and got indigestion my proffesionaledical opinion is to avoid them at all cost lol!!!!!!!!!

Roberto rios on March 4th, 2010 at 3:49 PM
  39. Brian: I feel ya bro. His style might be boring, but how can one not respect a UD in boxing? If he wins unanimously, then props should be due right? I know it’s early, but based on styles, who do you think wins Mosley/Mayweather?

    1200 Techs on March 4th, 2010 at 8:15 PM
  40. I believe Floyd beats Mosley by UD of course.
