What is Manny Pacquiao Hiding Behind The Shades?

Saturday, June 9, 2012

MGM Grand Casino, Las Vegas, NV– (HBO PPV) Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) vs. Tim Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) (WBO 147 title) Odds/Prediction: Pacquiao 3 1/2 TO 1. Unless Bradley striked lightning in a bottle, he’s just another victim. Being of the opinion you must hurt Manny Pacquiao to beat him, Tim has not shown the power needed to accomplish such a task. Would love to see Bradley wipe the floor with him, but it would defy the odds.

Mike Jones (26-0, 19 KOs) vs. Randall Bailey (42-7, 36KOs) (IBF 147 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Jones 4-1. Inactive Bailey wasn’t that good at his best and that was years ago, Jones should own him here. If he doesn’t, put Jones on the pretenders list.

Jorge Arce (60-6-2, 46 KOs) vs. Jesus Rojas (18-1-1, 13 KOs) (WBO 118 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Arce 3-1. If I didn’t suspect Arce of “juicing,” I don’t think he’d even be in such a lofty spot in boxing, let alone at 118.

Guillermo Rigondeaux (9-0, 7 KOs) vs. Teon Kennedy (17-1-2, 7 KOs) (WBA 122 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Rigo 4-1. No contest here as Cuban is just to good. Bet of the weekend if you can get action on it.

Because I won’t mention sanctioned exhibitions. The following skirmish looks to be that.

Gimnasio Manuel Aguirre, Chihuahua, Mexico- Fernando Montiel (47-4-2,31 KOS) vs. Arturo Reyes (11-1,4 KOS) Odds/Prediction: Montiel 20-1. Does it take a psychic to figure this one out!

  • Too much anger at Arum after this one. Maybe he is a scumbag but Arum is the reason that Pac has had such a successful career. Matching him against his in house fighters, old, shot, drained fighters made Pac look better than he was and made him millions of dollars. It also had some mentioning Pac with fighters who he was not fit to carry their jock straps like Leonard, Hearns, Duran. As such, Arum cannot be blamed if he cashed out on Pac this weekend. Congratulations Timothy Bradley!

  • BOB ARum Ripped off Paquiao because he insulted his GAY JEW friends and he needed to be punish for his support of christianity. THAT was the bottom line and this dirty old rag needs to be exposed…

  • Bradley won…. what you think?

  • Looks like I’m gonna miss half the undercard, altho0ugh my friends tell me there wasnt much to see.

Last minute pick was going to Pacquiao – I’ve been reluctant all along, and even more so the last 24 hours after seeinbg that Pacquiao weighed 147 – I really don’t like him nearly as much at weltherweight.

But still, he’s gotten it done so many times, and I have to believe he understands what’s at stake. that I think he’ll pull it off despite the mounting distractions and the wrong direction in which his body has been taken.

It’s hard not to be influenced by recent fights. Pacquiao-Marquez 3 was two levels bellow their 2008 fight and Manny looked no better than 70% of what he was in the second fight, against the same opponent who was now quite older, slower and easier to hit.

Alot of the jerky, distracting upper-body movement and crazy footwork has been increasingly absent in Mannys fights in the 140’s. The lower punch output speaks for itself.

But, I think he’ll be so happy to be in the ring with someone other than Marquez, that it will give him a temporary boost. That’s how it worked the previous two times.

Bradley himslef looked like crap in the Casamayor fight. Maybe he wanted to seem attractively beatable. Maybe it was rust. He’s a little bit stiff, sometimnes clutsy with the right hand which canb resemble a Lobster claw reaching for something too fay away. He comes out hard to win respect early but his power fades lat in the fight. I re-watched the Peterson fight last wewek and he was basically reduced to running & slapping in the late rounds after having Peterson in all kinds of early trouble.

So I’m goin g to ignore all the warining signs on Pacquiao, the fact that Bradley is getting him at the right time, the fact that Bradley fought five years of his amateur career in the 150’s and will be bigger guy in the ring despite coming up in weight officially.

Pacquiao by either close decision with the aid of a knockdown, or possibly a stoppage if gets lucky timming Bradleys duck & charge attack.
