MOSLEY OR MARQUEZ BIGGER FIGHT THAN “CHEATO”
San Francisco, CA- With Texas apparently willing to license him, disgraced Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito, the guy that had been caught with “loaded hand wraps” meant to disfigure his opponent Shane Mosley. That being said, why doesn’t Manny Pacquiao fight Mosley? He beat Margarito like a drum. In addition, Mosley is the man that went 12 rounds with Floyd Mayweather, rocking him once in the process.
OLD SLOW SHANE “STILL TOO” FAST FOR MANNY?
Mosley can still move around the ring, glide at times, this even though he is 38. But the reason why Manny Pacquiao has never, and I mean never mentioned Shane Mosley as a foe, is that Shane fights Black. Yes I said it again, and Pacman needs a guy with cement-like feet to stand there and let the Philippine phenom chop him down.
MARQUEZ-PACQUIAO FIGHT: “WHAT FANS WANT”
The way Manny Pacquiao has looked since his last dance with Juan Manuel Marquez, he would be a big favorite were they to meet a third time. Marquez, the fighter that has tested and pushed Manny the hardest, he is old and seems to pose minimal threat, yet Manny won’t mention his name either.
ARUM’S HATRED OF OSCAR IS KILLING FIGHTS
Instead of dealing with the fact that Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions got a “sweetheart” deal with HBO, just like the one I believe he had with ESPN in the 80s, Bob Arum is keeping his fighters out of lucrative matches with GBP fighters. It was Arum who think week dismissed any thought of Pac-Marquez III.
BIGGEST FIGHT OUT THERE & NO MANNY!
Most certainly Pacquiao-Marquez III is a bigger fight than Pac-Margarito. It is second only to Mayweather-Pacquiao in meaningful super fights for the Filipino. Taking some bad advice (or just going along like a pawn does) Pacman, who’s looking a little plump these days, should realize that unless Margarito is slated to take a dive, fighting Marquez is a hell of a lot easier than the much bigger (5’11 & close to 160 come fight time) windmill throwing Margarito.

i refuse to support a fight or a card using Margarito. the guy was caught red f’ing handed. period. that photo evidence in the Cotto fight is ALMOST as damning based on the Mosley fight wraps.
why do we even have rules if there is virtually almost no punishment enforced?
But Pedro, Marquez, Barrera and Cotto weren’t cement feet guys and Mosley doesn’t really fight black to me.
If anything I’d say that over the years it’s been Shane that needs to fight someone with “cement” feet!
I have been wanting to see Pacman vs Marquez III for years … Seems to me that Manny is just riding this whole boxing or should I say entertainment career as long as he can and Arum is pitting him against his own fighters to reap the benefits … he needs to fight someone meaningful soon or is he living in the past? Pac is taking a huge risk in fighting Margo, because as a practicing congressman Pac is going to be rusty and out of shape (maybe even “a little plump” as you put it) and because Margo is a huge sturdy welterweight who is naturally much bigger and much sturdier than Pac. Moreover, there is nothing in it for Pac, since Margo is disgraced goods. I just don’t see the incentive for Pac. There is no glory to be gained. It’s all risk, no reward. Unfortunately, Pac is known for letting other guys manage his career and for signing anything they put in front of him. Unless Margo is getting paid to dive, I fear we may see a disastrous end to Pac’s phenomenal run.
Marquez arguably lost both fights 2 pac and went down a total of 4 times in those matches. Don’t wont or need to see them do it again…Marquez’s chances of winning a 3rd fight have diminished as his age has gone up and Pac has moved up in weight. Those fights were at 126 and 130. Marquez has no business fighting at welter especially at 36. Not sure who Pac should fight, maybe Paul Williams?

I love Marquez as a fighter, but he’s a Lightweight, not a Welterweight. Pac is now a Welterweight. Marquez is nowhere near as effective fighting above Lightweight. Sure they could meet at Jr. Welterweight, but it doesn’t change the fact that Marquez is better at Lightweight. Would I watch it? Yeah, but I don’t think it would be as competitive as it would have been a couple of years ago. Mosely? He’s coming off a big loss. Bradley? He’d get his ass kicked. I’m sorry, I like him as a fighter, but let’s be real. He isn’t on the same level. There really is only one fighter that we want to see Pac fight, and he’s on “vacation”.
Mosley dosn’t desrve a shot after only fighting 2 rounds and than huffing and puffing for 10 rounds. Marquez just can’t carry the wieght at 147 so I doubt he’ll fight at 140. Any 140 pound fighter gets ko’d by Pac in less than 5 rounds so Margarito is his best opponent unless Berto wants to fight a welter wieght for a change.

Coming back from a lengthy absence is often a insurmountable task; you feel as though you are walking on a tight rope 100′s of feet above everyone else. You simply cannot feel comfortable ~ somewhat like fighting while nauseated on your feet!
Still, having fought as well as he did, and recently, he is now in a much better position to take on MANNY for FLOYD again. Especially after this tune-up fight which he will win easily.

After getting dominated by Floyd, if he went directly to Pac and got beat, everyone would claim Pac beat up a washed up, old man.

whiner, i agree with you that pac is taking a big risk with margo and that’s what separates pac and floyd. after november, pac will have fought 3 legit welterweights that floyd would not touch with a 20 foot pole.. we all remember how floyd avoided margo like the plague.. floyd is all reward and no risk and it’s amazing that people continue to drink his coolaid.. the mosely fight was his first legit welterweight and that only happened because floyd was shoved into a corner.

When are “boxing” people going to realize that Sugar Shane is a bum .. The dude barley beat Oscar the second time, and he was on the juice during the fight. Oscar being the guy who’s biggest win is versus Fernando freakin Vargas .. Ok well maybe Tito, who mind you had his own “hand wrapping” issues .. Once Sugar was exposed he was never the same. I posted before that I think if pacman wanted to do some real Henry Armstrong shit he should fight Sergio Martinez. Yes he can do a catch weight of 155 and nobody should bitch abOut it because for his last fight he came in at 157. He isn’t that big or fast technically sound or a killer puncher. I think pacman can beat him 10 out of 10 times. Martinez isn’t a volume or pressure puncher. Imagine he wins the lineal middleweight title of the world. Everybody including money will have to bow down. Plus Martinez will take like a 30 percent split. The ppv would be great just from the historical standpoint. Paul Williams is a 6’3″ super middle weight campaigning at light middle. Pacman would easily make 140 if he didn’t eat 12,000 a day in camp to stay at 145 for welterweight. Give me Pacman vs. Marqez at 140. I think the pressure to face the Williams and Martinez’s of the world would be on Floyd not Pac as Floyd is the GOAT….just ask him.

Margarito fighting anyone is a travesty, period, end of story. It definitely shouldn’t be the fighter that brings the most money to him. When has boxing ever been moral anyway? We shouldn’t expect it. Either watch it or don’t, but it will survive long after we are gone. Roach has wanted no part of Shane. Shane previously stated he would go down as much as 142 as a catch weight and Roach still turned him down. Even after his sorry performance against May, Roach knows Shane is a granite chinned, fast, powerful fighter that will stand toe to toe. No, Pedro, he doesn’t fight “black”, if you’re insuating that black fighters are fast, move around, through fast combinations, etc. As for Marquez, he is more deserving. I agree there. But Arum has went on record as saying that Marquez should “fight a proven welterweight first” before they fight him again. He’s also went on record as saying ” F_ _ _ the fans”. The ideal weight for that fight would be 140. However, even if it is a 147 fight, why should Marquez come in at the limit anyway? Come in at 138 or so. Ragin/Roberto, please tell me why you feel Manny is not much improved since the last Marquez fight? He has power in both hands now. He works more angles now. He is Roach’s main fighter now..and Roach is the best in the business right now in my opinion. He knocked Hatton silly with right hooks before he starched him with that devastating left. His first knockdown of Cotto was with a right hook that glanced off Cotto’s shoulder first. Are you telling me that Marquez is a stronger fighter than both of those? And please tell me why continuing to fight these strong top welters (Clottey/Cotto) isn’t riskier than fighting Marquez? Because he simply doesn’t want to fight Marquez? He simply gobbled up punches from Clottey and Cotto. So please tell me how you feel Marquez can hurt him? His best chance of beating him is to counterpunch, outbox him like in the first two fights. But if he sits and waits, Manny will be in and out after a 6 punch combination. And if he’s knocking out welters, he surely will knock out a lightweight.Just look at how they’ve performed since they’ve fought each other. Like I said, Arum has stated they would only fight him at 147. And we know how Marquez looked when he tried to put on the weight…fat and slow. Heck, he only weighed 142 against Floyd for a welterweight fight. We know his best weight is at max 135. His last fight against Diaz he weighed in at 133. His next fight against Katsidis is at 135. Why do you think he went back down to 135? Manny has grown into welterweight. He will have all of the advantages. Granted, their two previous fights were very close and could’ve went either way; but they were at 126 and 130. On the examples that you give (attempting to make a case that Marquez has his number), Ali and Norton fought at heavyweight…and not in a different weight class. Randall and Chavez fought an immediate rematch 4 months later at the same weight…140. The landscape would be completely changed my friends since their last fight. Like I said..Marquez is more deserving of a third fight, but it will not turn out like the first two.

I have to agree with DH, and so does anybody else whose vision is not distorted by unreasonable Pac-envy. JMM is a terrific fighter who has no business at 147. His body doesn’t even look right at 135. JMM belongs at 130 or 126. Pac would make mincemeat of him at any higher weight class. As DH has also pointed out, Pac has improved tremendously in recent years, and there is nothing wrong with pointing that out and saying things like “manny is so improved,” because it’s all true. I mean, are you guys going to stop saying “2+2=4″ just because it’s been said so many times already? Are you going to change your opinion to “2+2=5″ just because it’s new, daring and controversial? Get real. It’s time to ditch Pac-envy once and for all and to look at things realistically.
Good points but why fight at a higher weight? Why not have PAC drop weight if he is the pound 4 pound king? Marquez is a counterpuncher and a great one at that for him to try to beat him any other way would be suicide. I just think that the fighters are equal, and a 3rd would not be a blowout. That was a great post DH! It’s hard to say stuff that’s obvious in new and interesting ways, but you have done it. Whatever roid controversy exists about Pac is based exclusively on the fact that he’s improved so much. Guys who allege on the one hand that Pac is on roids and who deny on the other hand that he’s made any progress are just contradicting themselves. In other words, they’re saying something like, “Pac is a much-improved fighter who hasn’t gotten any better.” Try to make sense out of that! Ok, one more time. 1) Manny’s right hand is vastly improved 2)he has not lost quickness as he moved up in weight 3)he hasn’t lost any power…if anything, has improved power as he’s moved up 4)he uses his quickness of foot to move into position to throw punches from all angles. The Chris Byrds of the world used speed, defense, and quickess to win decisions. Manny uses all of those things I mentioned to stretch guys in the higher weight classes. That’s what makes him a phenom right now, which brings his accomplishments under scrutiny. I just said that in the previous post that Olympic drug testing being is an issue. Is he using? Who knows. Has he failed any tests? No. For the record, I’m a fan of Mayweather. But I’m also a realist, unlike you. He needs to step up and make the biggest fight in history but that’s another story. Listen, all 3 of these fighters (Floyd, Pac, JMM) are in the top 5 of alot of lb for lb lists. I’m downing JMM because Floyd beat him. Floyd had a speed, quickness, defensive advantage. Not to mention he had a size and power advantage also. And coming off of almost 2 year layoff. I’m not downing JMM at all, period. Some guys can move up in weight successfully, others cannot. JMM cannot beat him at 147. That’s based upon the evidence we’ve seen. Get that through that second grade brain of yours. Man, I feel like I’m whipping up on a kid. I’m starting to feel like a bully.

im not discounting the possibility that cheato might beat manny, he’s the bigger the guy, that shows u that manny is not afraid to take risk. As good as pbf is, he never fought those guys that might beat him (margarito/cotto/pwill & pacquiao). Had pbf stayed retired, maybe pac vs jmm is sure thing. dont get disappointed in me MAN, we might agree on some things & also disagree on other issues, only this time, i sided w/ DH & whinner, but on some issues i might agree with u. remember, we are just expressing our thoughts/analysis here.

margarito beating pac is not going to shock the world, cause many boxing experts believe that it is doable, i for one is not that sure that pac would beat marga. so, to those who knew boxing better, it is still a 50-50 chance for both guys. thats the reason why pbf wants no part of margarito.

He threw over 1000 punches against Clottey. U say it takes skill and craft to beat Manny, but in the very next post u pick Margarito to beat him, like ur some kind of genious. Yes, that same skillful and crafty Margarito. As for the Floyd/JMM fight, of course Floyd didn’t just overwhelm him with power because he’s not that type of fighter anyway. But it was clear that he kept walking to him, standing in front of him, and had no repect for his power. Did u even look at how they looked physically? JMM looked bloated, soft, and slower to me. Floyd is a full fledged welter. I ask you again, if JMM felt he could fight effectively at welter, why did he go back to 135 himself? I’m willing to bet he could fight at 130 effectively. Fool, I’ve already said 2 times prior that JMM is more deserving of a fight w Pac than anyone else. ONCE again, if it does take place, it will be a full 17 lbs above where they last fought. Dencio I agree with you but most of the boxing world sadly believes that PAC is gonna steamroll margarito…that’s not gonna happen…I have not seen PAC get hit with uppercuts like margaritos and people used to think cotto hit hard body shots but if you watch Margos fight with him margarito hit him with a vicious body shot in the third or fourth round that took cottos spirit away.
Dh De la Hoya was burnt out not even a shell of his former self=slow. PAC threw over a 1000 punches against clottey because clottey never had an offense. Floyd didnt even make weight so that fight was nonsense. But again why wouldn’t PAC go down in weight? Pound for pound means he supposedly can beat another fighter at equal weight. Heavier or lighter…heavier PAC might win lighter Marquez wins again (Marquez won both of this fights…I don’t care what the decision was….)

I forgot to say now with all the negatives as far as his speed and power I will say being an athlete and combat fighter myself unlike some of u people. Maybe manny is so improved from not cutting soo much weight. Cutting kills ur speed , power and endurance. You need look no further than bj Penn how he makes 155 as to Frankie Edgar how he makes 155. Fresher faster better endurance. Weight cutting not only dehydrated u from the exterior also. It take water away from u internal organs including ur brain. That’s why u see some guys who cut too much too long get ktfo ala hatton pacman.

I would agree that Shane is a more powerful fighter than Pac punch for punch, but compare their fights with Cotto. Cotto stood right in front of Shane and took his best shots and didn’t take a bacward step until he started boxing him in the championship rounds.and u already know what happened when Pac connected with that “looping” right hook and left upper cut on Cotto.I’m a former athlete also, and u just answered your own questions. Perhaps Manny is so effective at this weight because of the fact he doesn’t have to cut so much weight anymore. I really believe that after Floyd’s recent rant, Manny and Arum may just decide to move on. Which makes the fight with JMM more possible. Katsidis comes to fight, so their fight will be a war. And picking Marg over Pac is not that much of a stretch anyway, Genious.
