MR. VALERO REMAINS MR. PERFECTO!
Monterrey, MX- Edwin Valero, 135 lbs, Las Vegas, NV TKO 9 Antonio DeMarco, 135, Tijuana, MX. (WBC 135 lb. title) Valero (27-0, 27 KOs) was cut on the right cheek in the opening round followed by a huge gash high on the left side of his forehead courtesy of an accidental elbow from DeMarco (23-2-1, 17 KOs). DeMarco for his part stood his ground but only fought in spurts. Between rounds 8 and 9 an exhausted DeMarco had the look of a beaten fighter and after the ninth he had enough and opted out.
Carlos Abregu, 147, Salta, Argentina UD 10 Richard Gutierrez, 147, Miami, FL. Abregu (29-0, 23 KOs) was down in the second round only to return the favor as Gutierrez (24-4-1, 14 KOs) hit the canvas in the third frame. Both fighters were cut over the left eye, with Abregu’s being the more serious. Abregu’s superior skill claimed scores of 97-91 twice and 98-90 in what was an entertaining battle.
Marvin Quintero, 136, Tijuana, MX TKO 2 Luis Gonzalez, 132, Monterrey, MX.
Quintero (19-2, 15 KOs) makes it three knockouts in a row in dispatching Gonzalez (14-2-1, 8 KOs). Gonzalez was down in the second round, got up only to receive a storm of punches from Quintero causing the 2:59 stop.

McAllen, TX– Brandon Rios, 135, Oxnard, CA TKO 3 Jorge Luis Teron, 135, New York, NY. It was all Rios (24-0-1, 18 KOs) against Teron (23-2-1, 15 KOs) in one of the most one-sided fights in recent memory. Rios cut Teron under his left eye in the first stanza after a series of power shot to the head. The onslaught continued until finally the referee stepped in to stop it at 1:13 of the 3rd.
Tomas Villa, 126, Midland, TX DQ 10 Juan Ruiz, 124, Santa Clara, CA
Villa (22-6-4, 14 KOs) was focused and calm as his opponent Ruiz (23-6, 7 KOs) fouled him at will. Though coming on in the later rounds, inexplicably Ruiz pushed Villa prompting the referee to disqualify him at 2:08.

Valero rules!!! He is way way better than pac! The new idol! The new mexicutioner! kick the ass of all mexican boxers! They bounce real good off the canvass! lol
Valero looks like the real deal, even though this is the first time I’ve seen a full fight of his. I’ve only seen clips of other fights. Let’s not jump the gun here. To be great you have to consistently test yourself and beat top fighters. I think has has the opportunity to do many good things. I read where he is having trouble making 135 and will move up to 140 where he has some good challengers like Malignagi, Bradley, and some other guys. I wouldn’t mind seeing him and JMM go at it also. Time will tell with Valero, but he does look to have the goods.
That was a huge cut that Valero suffered, here in the USA they would have stopped that fight. I kept thinking that Valero vs Pac would make for a great battle if Valero can carry 145.
Dam Sam, calm down! Way better than pac my ass! Maybe better then the version of Pac that was slappin barrera around for the first time! lol…Don’t get me wrong, Valero is good. But he has to clean up around his weight class or take on the top dog like JMM at 135 before he gets anywhere that kind of recognition. I see Ali Funeka given him a good run for his money at lightweight. At 140, you got Bradley, Malignaggi, Khan, Devon Alexander, a bunch of other guys that would test him. Now go look at Pac’s resume all the way back to 03 and come back and tell me that Valero is better then Pac. Here’s a hint. The guys that would test Valero today, pale in comparison to what you will find on Pac’s resume IMO.
