San Francisco, CA- Although there are still a few kinks to ironed out, it appears a deal has been struck between Mexican boxers Juan Manuel Marquez (66-7, 43 KOs) and Erik Morales (51-6, 35 KOs) to fight April 9, at the MGM Grand. Morales is the last man to beat Manny Pacquiao, yet some feel Marquez beat him twice!

  1. Why is this fight even being made? Morales has been shot for years. He will get stopped within 5 rounds. This is a joke.

  2. JMM wins this one easily. Not really that excited about it, but I’ll probably watch it.

  3. Hey dude .. You dont want to get shafted in a close fight …? Stay on your feet, very simple.. This is a fighters basic logic … Stay on your feet bro .. Dont let another man knock you off em if you want to win .. Simple !

  4. A good fight for JMM and for boxing fans would be against Humberto “Zorrita” Soto. Fireworks for sure! Too bad they fight for rival promoters. Too bad for fight fans who don’t get rewarded with fights like this although we fill their greedy pockets with our hard earned dollars.

  5. Seriously? This fight is nearly 10 yrs too late. Morales is one of my all time faves, so I won’t bother watching him get busted up as this matchup is simply a mismatch. At bantamweight during his prime, I’d slightly favor Morales. Too bad these 2 couldn’t meet back in the day.

  6. I think this bout will be more competitive than people realize. Marquez is older and I think the layoff may have helped replenish Morales. If Morales was facing a true lightweight in his prime than yes, but Marquez struggled with limited brawler Katsidis. Marquez, did show he can take a hell of a shot against Floyd, but has anyone realized how much Marquez has to dig down in every fight to win? Not saying he’ll get beat, but I don’t think Morales will get blown away.

  7. Why not put Morales in against Soto winner fights Marquez. If Morales had a belt coming in, might make the fight seem more lucrative to the public. However Morales deserves the fight on name recognition alone, and Marquez deserves to put that feather on his cap even if it’s long overdue. People seem to forget that Marquez is still at least three years older than Morales.
