What do you and Pedro think of this matchup? I’m sure Floyd will be a solid favorite, but do you guys think Cotto is a live underdog here?

Off the top of my head Cotto looked good against what perhaps was an overrated fighter to begin with in Margarito considering the hand wrap incident and the Mexican fighters performances since. And even though Cotto is well deserving of a shot against Floyd, the Puerto Rican looks like he has lost zip along the way. He’s not the same fighter he once was and I think Mayweather will defeat Miguel without too much of a problem. Good pay day for Cotto and I think he came by way of this fight as a free agent. Too bad for Bob Arum.

This fight is a going to be a blowout for Mayweather. I said Cotto was shot after Pac destroyed him. I don’t care if the fight is at 154; Cotto has nothing left for the top fighters. Let’s look at Cotto after the first Margarito fight: Beat a bum in Michael Jennings, won a split decision versus Clottey which was a life and death struggle, got hammered by Pac, beat a bum in Yuri Foreman, beat another bum in Mayorga, and beat a washed up Margarito. I like Cotto, but he is a shopworn fighter. This fight might not last 5 rounds if Mayweather puts the pressure on him. Here’s Mayweather fighting another name that is way past his prime. The novice boxing fans will think this is a test for Floyd, but it is really a sparring session. Good job by Mayweather at picking the opponent that will generate the most buzz, but have the least chance of winning. If Floyd decided to fight Cotto at 154, why didn’t he call out Sergio who said he was willing to go to 150 if he wanted to challenge the best? That’s probably a more competitive fight than the Pac fight.

“so like I said before the ONLY fights making sense are PBF or Chavez. if these happen u must bow down” -donjuandinero
Those are your words. Now what exactly did you do that was so special that people need to bow down to you? I called your ass out for being an ass due to the fact we all put out there who we would like Cotto to fight, and you started bashing everybody for their opinions. I get it that this is prizefighting and Cotto done went after everybody and deserves to fight whoever he wants for a payday. I agree with you on that. But as a fan like most of us on here, we just want to see good fights since we dont see a DIME of what these guys are making. The whole World wanted to see PBF fight Pac, so here we go again with another bogus fight in which the best dont seek out the best, an aspect that has been lost in boxing.

Awesome fight 4-6 yrs ago. Horrible fight now how can anyone even defend this fight? I’m sorry but Cotto is done. Last time I bashed Manny for fightting Marquez when most including myself thought it was a mismatch and I gave props to Mayweather for fighting Ortiz because I thought he was a young hungry lion. Now I have to bash Mayweather. Bradley is a live dog against Pac and has a good chance of beating him. Cotto has no chance. Haven’t been impressed with Cotto’s past 3 performances I thought he was pretty damn lucky they stopped the fight against Margarito because He was going to come with everything the last two rounds and Cotto looked like he was fading fast. The undecards better be the S–t!

For Cotto, this was a great move because after the Margacheato incident, it did NOT seem like Arum was looking out for his best interest. So Im actually very glad for Cotto.

I am surprised by how many people think Mayweather can win by KO. The only fighter he has KO’d in years was Victor Ortiz and even that was questionable. He does not have the power to hurt Cotto. Mayweather has become a one-punch at a time fighter. This will be a better fight than people realize.

1200 Techs we both know they won’t be fighting at 140. That would be to Bradleys advantage and we can’t have that. Bradley didn’t look to bad at 147 when he fought damn it I forgot that Argentinians name. Anyways Pac is not a big WW but at the end of the day I like the Bradley fight more than Peterson or Marquez. Since Cotto has no chance I hope Bradley pulls it off even though he might have to kill him to get the decision. I’m so over PBF/PAC that I hope the dream match doesn’t go down. That would be beautiful and they would have no one to blame but themselves.

Floyd all day. Cotto will lean forward in his crouch with high guard and hands to both sides of his head…..as always. Floyd splits the guard with ‘up jab’ that Cotto can’t stop all night….once Floyd jab is established Floyd puts hands to the body after the jab round 3 or 4 on. Floyd can not KO Cotto if Cotto decides to go into survival mode as he has in the past…..Floyd’s not a stalker. Floyd by UD. More competative fight 5 years ago but Floyd still wins.

TT: I hope your wrong regarding the weight. Bradley beat a top 10 welter in I think his name last name was Abregu, an o had to gogo type affair.. I read somewhere regarding a round robin involving peterson marquez bradley and pac…Now that would be tight if it was at 140…

I think this is going to be very competitive fight. First off, let’s look at Cotto’s 2 defeats. He was clearly weight drained against Pacquaio having to weigh in at 145. I am not saying that the outcome would have been different but just wanted to point that out. I also want to point out that Manny took quite a beating in that fight as well, remember his ear. The other defeat was Margarito who we now know was using illegal hand wraps. The 2nd fight Cotto made Margarito’s face look as bad as Manny did. And if you watch the fight again, Margarito was not landing most of the punches. Cotto was tiring but he would have stayed away using lateral movement and his jab. Cotto has always been perceived as a stalking brawling type of fighter but the reality is that his boxing “skills” are very underrated especially his jab.

I want to finish my post above. While I concede there are questions abou Cottos stamina , it has Only shown up against pressure fighters ie Magochito, Mosley, Pacquaio, and Ricardo Torres. Floyd is not a pressure fighter. For all fans that think this will be an easy fight for Floyd go back and Floyd and Csstillo 1. That was 10 years ago and Floyd used his legs and lateral movement and Castilo gave fits and Cotto is bigger stronger and has a superb jab, Floyd is 35 and reminds me of another defensive great Pernell Whitaker. Whitaker realied on his superb technical skills and craftIness to get by in his mid 30′s and I see Floyd doing the same thing. I give Floyd props for taking thIs fight especially at 154lbs. I maybe crazy but I think this fight is more dangerous for Floyd than Pac, Cotto is a vicious power body puncher and while eveyone knows Floyd has great speed and high boxing IQ so does Cotto and that is why I think this will beca good fight.
