AFTER A DECADE MAYWEATHER & BOB SPLIT UP!

Las Vegas, NV-Floyd Mayweather Jr., billed by some as the best boxer in the world has ended a ten-year relationship with promoter Bob Arum. Appearing on Ring Talk Radio Sunday night, HBOs Larry Merchant let the cat out of the bag. What was speculation by Merchant on the radio became reality as of Tuesday morning. Look for an announcement forthcoming shortly.

HOW DID FLOYD GET OUT OF THE CONTRACT YOU ASK?

Invoking a buy out option he had put in a 2005 contract with Top Rank, Floyd gave Arum $750,000, making him a free agent! Currently, the 36-0 Mayweather is mending a tender right hand. He will be an interested observer next week when Oscar De La Hoya meets Ricardo Mayorga at 154 lbs. Should Oscar prevail, he might fight Floyd in September with the hopes of signing him to a Golden Boy promotional pact.

FLOYD NIXED $8 MILLION TO FIGHT MARGARITO!, The thinking in Mayweathers camp is that Oscar is a lot better fight for them than Antonio Margarito. For a Margarito-Mayweather fight might resemble Saturdays Wladimir Klitschko beat down of Chris Byrd. Having nixed an $8 million guarantee, Mayweather makes it clear that Margarito is not at the top of the list of people he wants to fight.

AND JUST WHERE WOULD A PRETTY BOY GO?

Seeing World 140 lb. champion Ricky Hatton is unavailable, should Oscar lose to Ricardo Mayorga, one avenue Floyd might take would be a clash with ex-140 lb. king Kostya Tszyu. If that doesnt work, Floyd might go after the winner of the Shane Mosley-Fernando Vargas rematch set for July.

HAVING FLOYD ON ROSTER SAME AS TROPHY WIFE!

And while Bob Arum has never made a lot of money when it comes to Mayweather, a 1996 Olympic Bronze Medallist, their relationship is like an old man with a young trophy wife. Meaning it sure looks good, and you can brag about it!
