DEFENDING “THE FIGHT CHICK” ON OPINION & PACQUIAO
March 13th, 2010 By Pedro Fernandez
OPINIONS NEED NOT BE DEMONIZED!
San Francisco, CA- The recent article put forth by Frances “The Fight Chick” Martel is interesting in that she is being assailed from both fans of Manny Pacquiao and media members. I can see where it might irk some folks, but she is merely throwing gasoline on a touchy subject few critics would dare to do. Whether I agree with her or not, Pacman is the greatest fighter in an era where steroids and performance enhancing drugs have an impact on every major sport worldwide. The fiery Filipino has moved up in weight with strength and impunity like no fighter before him.
JUST A BAD PUBLIC RELATIONS MOVE!
Floyd Mayweather, be it Jr. or Sr., they weren’t the first to talk of Pacquiao’s possible steroid use; they just got the most publicity. A number of boxers, some who have gone on the record, some who will not, they are of the opinion that something is rotten in Denmark per se. Personally, I blame team Pacquiao for allowing this thing to get so out of hand.
PAC WOULDN’T AGREE TO TESTS 14 DAYS OUT!
For the record, and the thousands of Filipino bloggers that are all fired up for nothing, Manny didn’t want to be tested in the last 14 days leading up to the proposed Mayweather fight. He didn’t want “random” testing, the type put forth by the US Anti Doping Agency. Victor Conte, formerly of BALCO Labs, now with Sports Nutrition & Advanced Conditioning (SNAC.com), he says that certain steroids and EPO can be undetectable as soon as four days after stopping any use. That being said, I find Pacquiao’s actions indeed suspicious.
ROBERTO DURAN’S EX-MANAGER WEIGHS IN
“I think it is very possible that if Manny took something, he didn’t know what it was,” said Hector Martinez on Friday. “When you have a team assembled, there is a bond of trust. I remember (Hector) Camacho’s guy had run out of Vitamin B-12. He didn’t want to feel the wrath of the Harlem Heckler and he injected Camacho with pure saline. As for Roberto, all he took was B-12 during camp. Would I have given him steroids or EPO if I thought it would have helped him? If they were not illegal, and they weren’t at the time, hell yes!”
FRANCES, PAULIE, KERMIT & ME, WE ALL SMELL FISH HERE
Let’s cut out the bull spit here! Regardless of whether his ego was bruised or not, Manny Pacquiao should have stepped up, taken the tests and fought Mayweather. Instead Pac said he was: 1. Superstitious. 2. Afraid of needles. 3. Fearful a blood test might weaken him, in addition to other lame excuses. Forget my law enforcement background, common sense says that the manner in which Pacquiao has handled these allegations, and that’s all they are is allegations, has turned a negotiating ploy into a public relations nightmare.
Pedro Fernandez

hi
Ii have to say this is one of the most sound objective and honest article i have read in years. I totally agree with u Pedro.Tthe problem here is that a lot of people hate Mayweather and all they want is for him to be beaten. They think Pacquio is the only man to do it. however Pacquio has to win fairly, on a level playing field.
The only person to blame here is Pacquio. Maywearher agreed to all absurd conditions Pacquio presented, the gloves and the 10 million penalty for all the pounds overweight. However he refused Mayweaher only condition, steroid test. If u have nothing to hide then why not have the tests. all the athlets ar having the tests, soccer platyers as well. The urine tests wont detect steroids so blood tests are the only tests to detect steroids, why not have them. Why go to court and try to defend yourself when all u need to do is to have the tests.
As this case progresses, it all becomes clear Pacquio has something to hide. That was the reasoning behind fighting Clottey, because all the other fighters he wanted to fight wanted blood test. their number 1 target Malinaggi wanted tests so he decided to fight another Bob Arum fighter who wont demand tests
To Pacqio i say dont use God’s name in vain, God will judge u for all the lies. U r damaging ur body with all these steroids, for what, look at the side effects of them.
Germany has said all their fighters will have blood tests and the vultures are circling on u man. U r A disgruntle to the boxing world and the Filipino community.
iam not watching ur match tonite, cheater
Pedro, does Frances Martel really need for you to write an article telling people not to demonize her opinion? If so, maybe she shouldnt be writing. When she makes comments like, “He(Pacquiao)has very little discernable boxing skill” what do you expect? A fighter does not get to the level Manny Pacquiao has without any “discernable boxing skill” whether that person is using steroids or not. She is just a really bad writer whose only talent is to try to say the most outrageous things possible in order to strike up controversy and as many reader responses as possible. Honestly Pedro, the fact that you wrote this column specifically to get people to be nicer to her should tell you something. Do you want to have a serious boxing site with serious analysis or do you want the site to sink to the lowest common denominator? Ive been following this website for more than 10 years because in the past I considered this site to be a serious boxing site. Francis is not a serious writer, she just tries to be controversial. No thanks.
I completely disagree. USADA testing is not part of ANY boxing comission or sanctioning organization so at this time it is not a part of boxing, End of story.
If and when such testing becomes part of the rules of the game – for each and every fight without exception – then fighters should be expected to abide by it, including Pacquiao.
Until then, Pacquiao-Mayweather or any other fight should be conducted according to the same testing standards currently in place for EVERYONE.
The only probalem I have with Pacquiao is that he ever agreed to dignify these frivolous and cynical demands in the first place by accepting any non-standard tests at all.
As far as I’m concerned, they turned pro at around the same time and should have fought under the same rules they’ve had all their careers. It’s pure BS that the same testing regime which Floyd happily competed under all these years are sudennly not acceptable.
I’m not against people advocating for better and tougher testing in general – for all boxing accross the board – thats fine. But to direct and focus a campaign of hate and dirt entirely against one person when every other fighter in the world could easily be on PEDs all this time …. well that’s just paranoia and neurotic obsession on the level of Stalin.
You are wrong. Look your little guy is becoming a pain in the arse. In fact all of you Pacnuts are! The testing by Nevada is inferior and has been beaten by Mr. Mosley. Pac is full of s*it and I’m tired of talking about him REFUSING to take said tests.
Dave, you are uninformed like a lot of people who have opinions in boxing and in politics. Do your research before forming an opinion. Urine tests can detect steroids and that’s exactly what they do. Many boxers have tested positive for steroids…I think the Mayweather camp is more concerned about EPO or HGH. That being said I think people need to understand the differences between the various drugs and how they are detected before making accusations that Pacman doesn’t want to be tested for steroids. He’s been tested numerous times for steroids and other PED’s and passed every test. If we want to discuss EPO and HGH thats another story, but I want the record set straight here…the argument about Pac and the tests really has nothing to do with steroids at all, and I think Victor Conte addressed the issue on ringtalk.com weeks ago.
My question is why would anybody be against Manny being randomly tested? People say their boxing fans but yet they stand for cheating. Is it better to know a fighter is clean or to not know? All I hear is very lame excuses why Manny shouldn’t come clean and it’s very sickening to hear. I don’t wanna know what PED’s can do I wanna know what Manny can really do. Only a complete dumb ass idiot would want to see the biggest fight in boxing history fought under controversial circumstances.
An article to defend another writer on here? lol…gimme a break. the more rubbish and trash talk you continue to toward pacman and his fans is just too funny. you and every other desperate writer are just using pacman to get more hits on your site….causing a stir to get more viewers (it does work though). envy bleeds through your show and blogs.
talk and write all you want to tarnish pacman that’s ok but there still isn’t proof that pacman is guilty of cheating using hgh or roids even if you have your biased a$$ opinion. until then, pacman is innocent.
Is there a website that specifically defines what USADA testing (AKA Olympic Style Drug testing?) is? Does random mean they could conceivably test every day of an 8-week training camp? Can the opposing camp request a drug test of their opponent any time they want?
As for fighters moving up in weight, ODLH won his first world (WBO) title at 130 and fought effectively though competitively at 154 and ineffectively at 160.
Floyd Mayweather won his first world title at 130 against Diego Corrales.
manny won his first world title at 112 (age 18) and won a title at 147.
Henry Armstrong won world titles at 126, 147 and 135 in one year and in the next year fought to a draw at 160 against world Middleweight champ Cefarino Gonzales.
Weight jump results where world titles were won:
1. Pacquiao – 35 pounds
2. Armstrong – 34 (okay, fought to draw but most thought he beat Cefirino)
3. Duran – 33 pounds
4. ODLH – 30 pounds
5. Roy Jones Jr – 30 pounds (Heavyweight 200+)
6. James Toney – 30 pounds
7. Thomas Hearns – 28 pounds
8. Ray Leonard – 28 pounds
9. Mosley – 19 pounds
10. Mayweather 17 pounds
Manny is in a small select group of boxers in terms of competing effectively at heavier weights but certainly not without precedence.
so lets hope clottey wins today so we no longer have to hear about it. i’m getting tired of pac, period.
Not everyone supporting pacquiao are pacnuts Pedro. You have a lot of boxing fans that can see where pac is coming from. WHo the hell is Mayweather anyway to insist that thhe testing methods he were to use are the best and possible options to catch people cheating? were all options truly exhausted to determine an effective testing that might be less invasive? I’m with Ten COunt above. I’m with better testing ALL across the board. I’m sure you have a lot of true boxing fans that would all want the same thing. WHy don’t we all discuss about what could be done to get the joke testing changed all across the board, and get others (fans, writers, etc.) to try and get on board with that instead of this one man which hunt. would you be up for that Pedro?
ten Count, this is bigger than a boxing commission now, by Pac refusing to take the test, fans around the world has alienated against Pacquio, he ask for alot of things, from the gloves size all the way to the 10millions/per pound, so Fraud asked for a little test and PacRoid start giving lame excuses and cancelling the fight, for once I have to side with Fraud, I’ll not want to face someone that is enhancing his God giving talents with drugs.
The argument was if Pac was bad for boxing, Pete. I like your writing, but on this issue I feel you havent adressed the meat of the ARTICLE.
Flip it around and one could say Floyd, and his family are bad for boxing because of their Street Thug mentality, and others like him. Do people forget the brawl the Mayweathers were in on live HBO PPV. His being involved in a shooting. His pronounced GAMBLING habits. His causing riots in strip clubs with counterfiet money. The IRS being after him. His uncle arrested for beating a women. His fathers drug convictions. I mean c’mon how far does his shit trail stretch. Trying to single handedly destroy boxings biggest ICON.
Pedro I mentioned this before, but what Floyd did, is ironic because it goes against his own street code thug mentality, and that is “NO SNITCHING”, and isnt that what ‘Money May’ has done here? He has tried to destroy Pac’s career. He has tried to harm the way this man earns a LIVING. That is dispicalbe. In all sports there is a code, and you as a police officer should know about the CODE, amongst brethren.
Again with those thoughts, who is BAD for Boxing, as it relates to the MAIN argument of Frances’s article? Pedro and Frances, I am not asking for a who is wrong or right, but an address to the topic of whats BAD for Boxing, as we are obviously all fans here, and we are the ones that ultimatley drive the SALES of these athletes and their people.
If you’re tired of talking about it, then don’t. Most people dont think there is anything to talk about, only the minority of blowhards who all of a sudden decided to care about PEDS only now.
“Cancer” of the sport? “Public relations nightmare?” LOL! What planet are you two living on?? The dude is about pack football stadium for a fight with one of the most boring and annonymous oppenets that can be found! You call that a public relations nightmare? Yeah, maybe if he looses.
Fact is you have no leg to stand on unless you include a demand for random testing in each and every single card you write about … something we all know you haven’t done. Otherwise this all just a pathetic case of sour grapes and personal vendeta and presumtion of guilt with a burden of proof on someone who has no record of wrong-doing.
Fact 1: I do not know if Pac is dopping or not. Fact 2: I do not like Mayweather as a person. But certainly, private contracts with specific requests and clauses are all part of boxing, from long time ago. Those that argue that blood tests should not be requested because is a deviation of the general testing rules, think twice. The limit of the welterweight division is at 147 pounds, but by virtue of a private contractual clause between the boxers, Cotto and Pacquiao agreed to fight at a maximum weight of 145 pounds. This is a complete deviation of the general rules, and in this instance, a deviation that would favor and protect Pacman, and Cotto accepted. Hence, whether the intention of PBF is to clean the sport of cheaters, or just to walk away of the fight or create controversy, he is in his absolute right to propose conditions and deviations from the general rules. The fact that Pac did not accept this is suspicious to say the least. The argument that the rules should be the same for everybody, as a defense for Pac, is a flawed argument.
The whole thing seems rather simple to me: if you don’t want boxers with drugs fighting, EVERY fight must require drug tests before and after each fight, with drugs found after the fight disqualifying the boxer. If you don’t care if boxers use steroids, pass a rule FORBIDDING drug testing, so no one can use it as a smear. If you want the same mish-mosh you have now, let each set of fighters charge and counter charge, and give the papers more to write about. Personally, I’d have no problem with a STEROIDS division, where you could only qualify if you were juiced up. That would make EVERYBODY happy.
pedro, floyd, cintron, frances………. eggcetera you are all asshole
Jamie, that is a good list although you forgot Dingaan Theobela who took Tony Lopez’ Lightweight and later had short fling as WBO SuperMiddle champion.
But the list is somewhat deceiving because of the circumstances of how early Pacquiao turned pro, which is really only comparable to Duran on that list.
Roy Jones fought his earliest competitive bouts in the low 140’s. The teenage Hearns & Leonard were lightweights at some point. Lamon Brewster & Michale Moorer fought as low as Jr. Middleweight in the amateurs. All these guys were much more properly trained and fed than guys form Asian & African slums.
Combined stresses like hard training, ultra low body fat in teen years is known to supress and slow the completion of physical maturity, this has been observed in gymnasts and circus acrobats (and sadly, is also a trusted techinque of pimps…).
Anyway, if someone wanted to suggest that Paquiao’s incredible energy IN TRAINING is assisted by PEDs, I would consider that a plausable theory (althoough just a theory, and one that could apply to many other fighters …)
However I consider the successful weight gain a non issue and easily explainable by his biographical info. I have no problem accepting that he was meant to become at least a lightweight years earlier.
ironhamer: Yeah a Clottey win would sure push the tiresome arguments further doen the bottom pf the page, although it would be a shame not getting to see a Tim Bradley get his shot while the Pacquiao brand is still gold-plated.
No matter, eventually some mere mortal with a great fight plan and a career effort will defeat Pacquiao and then it will becom YET ANOTHER fight that Mayweather DIDN’T take when it mattered, yet another landmark achievement that he bequeathed to someone else. Meanwhile he’ll probably be hyping a fight with Rafael Marquez at 154lbs.
Pedro and Frances, you shouldn’t care less what the pactards (including those in the media) have to say and I really hope that you don’t. Re. the Clottey fight, as I said weeks ago, Clottey was hand picked for Pacroid. His movement was always very, very limited and from what I hear, it was even less for Pac (didn’t bother watching it). Even Clottey’s comments prior to the fight were more along the lines of how defensive he would be and how he would not be knocked out as opposed to how he was going to win. Standing there and hoping that some guy who is hopped up on roids is going to run out of steam on his own is a pretty lame strategy.
you know pedro, odlh & cotto said that they dont see where pac’s punches are coming, not even one of his previous opponents did mentioned or suspected him of using roids, its his SPEED ! Pedro nuts. Did u think roids made pac faster than the others? If u keep calling us pac fans nuts, so it is also ok for us to call u NUT. Fair isnt it?
Pedro,
Very gallant of you defend Frances, and givent he fact that she is far from you politically is a nice sign. But anyone who says, or pretends to believe, that Glen Beck has “nice eyes!” doesn’t need protection from anyone. I suspect she would hire Charles Manson as a babysitter!
plain and simple, the mayweathers seen what pac did to cottos face and got scared. thats it. nobody cried foul when roy jones tested positive, james toney tested positive, or when fernando vargas tested positive. he could have made his movement at any one of those times but he didnt. now, yes he agreed to all of pacs “ridiculous” terms, why? because he knew after all the allegations pac would not sign. and the inferior testing in vegas caught each of these three men did they not? if it can get better testing than do it, but not because some scared sissy doesnt want to lose his “0″
there seems to be some pac hatred here. does floyd own this site or what? lol
This website reads less and less like boxing journalism and more like a high school blog. Frances Martel’s writing is her biggest impediment. I find it hard to care about her opinion simply because she cannot write and very little of what she says warrants interest after a line or two.
To a degree, I find this indicative of fight writing in general; it has lost youthful intellect, so the void is filled with the uncreative and uninspired.
The fact is Frances is a boring writer with limited knowledge of that which she writes. If you consider the number of hits that she gets as a triumph, you are wrong, a greater number of people are turned away by her writing, her opinions, her stupidity.
This site was so much better when she took a hiatus.
Let her go
Hey Pedro here is a tissue for Ms Martel….
You know, if the people who make their living in this dumb sport don’t care to institute real tests, then it can go to hell in a handbasket. Who cares? I have no sympathy for anyone involved in a professional sport that doesn’t have serious steroid tests.
Every fighter who cares should be speaking out about this, yet nearly no one does.
Fine. Juice up and beat each other’s brains out. What do I care?
But I’m not going to be a party to what amounts to a JOKE in terms of the testing.
I understand why Pacquiao probably didn’t want to take the tests–no lawyer in the country would have told him to take them, I bet–but it’s the sport’s fault for not making this a priority.
The mob may be out of boxing but the sport is still run with a greasy, mob-like mentality.
Jaime, did you mean Ceferino Garcia? The Filipino former world middleweight champion who drew with Henry Armstrong.
It is amazing how the mouth of an ex-con Mayweather Sr, a convicted drug dealer, can have so much clout in that many scribes listen to him as if he were a good scoop. If the Surgeon General were to be the first to voice out this suspicion about Pacquiao, I bet a whole lot of scribes would put down the surgeon general for coming up with such a baseless accusation. But coming from Mayweatherr Sr who, mind you, was the FIRST to suspect such a thing, these same believers jumped the bandwagon.
Although Floyd Sr. first made it a media thing, people suspected Pac’s camp of giving him EPO & or steroids. Don’t blame the messenger, take the tests and STFU!
Let me ask you one thing Pedro, steroids or other banned endhancing drugs don’t just go away in your system in a day or two for the simple reason that most of these substance are in your body at least in weeks, months or even years. So my point is, Pacquiao still wants to be tested even in an olympic-style sort of testing even after the supposs-ed fight with Mayweather.
Illegal drugs don’t just go away in your system and this is just one of the reasons as to why some olympic athletes are banned or their medals taken away. The media against the Pacman are just making it a big fuss but the truth is, Pacquiao agreed to that form of testing NOT just a day(a belief just like having sex a day before even in any forms of gambling or sports) but weeks before and a day after are alright with the guy.
Mayweather is just too scared to fight him and Clottey is a revelation to that even though the Ghanaian has the ability to beat Pacuiao but he was just to scared to slug it out against the Pacman. What happened last night’s fight was just like the 2nd Barrera fight wherein the Pacman’s foe just evading punches that might and could damage the opponents face.
BTW, try to adopt an impoverished poor & skinny kid from the Philippines and feed him well, then, look what happened to that kid’s structural body. Or better yet, compare those Filipinos bodily forms in the Bay Area with that poor children in the slum of General Santos. I hope you get the point and Ariza will truly guide you about nutritional values.
Pacman has fake power. Pac uses EPO, HGH and other designer steroids that can only be caught with certain blood tests with a short time. Thats’ why Pac avoids detection. I’m glad Frances is one of few in the boxing media that exposes this steroid scandal, because if people ignore it, PED usage will continue and boxing will created fake champions like Pacquiao whose been using PED’s for many years.
If this was Delahoya and Floyd told him take a test that the commission doesnt require do you think he would take the test…Hell No this is just posturing by both Mayweather and Pacquaio to be the “Top Dog” in the sport.Pedro it seems your opinion is for Manny to bow down and take the test, why dont you start a petition for las vegas to require random blood testing try to get the rule implemented for all fighters if you are really concerned for a fighters safety.Manny has already said if the commission requires it he would do it so people need to stop beating the that old drum Mayweather doesnt have the power Oscar had when it was time to negotiate with an opponent …How much did Floyd walk away from in the De lahoya rematch and why did he do that? Floyd will be Floyd I guess!Because that rematch would have been easy money for floyd!
Pedro, is obvous that your pride is hurt because of Manny’s winning ways.
a lot of people feel sorry for you. Don’t worry, Pacquiao will someday quit and you shall regale. i hope you be patient. And btw, you very well know Floyd used the PED issue at the prompt of his druggie dad. But ofcourse you will use it too. Like minded desperate minds.
Never the less, much of her artictle was still BS. Calling it crappy journalism would be a compliment.
That said, if Pacquiao was really afraid of needles then then let him explain his tattoos and how they got there…
Tom
Also, I believe everyone at this site likes the firestorm created by this article. Pedro knows the radio business, same thing applies here, good or bad, there is no such thing as bad press. Have them like or dislike you, just don’t have them disinterested.
Tom
Pedro you are regarded as one of the best in radio concerning boxing and it is amazing how you get into this PED AND HGH and all this take a test while if you really look back Floyd sr. and Roger came up with A SIDE METH stories…..Pedro you are one of the best in what you do and until there is no evidence do not join in this useless bashing of maybe one of the greatest fighter in our generation.
pedro, you’re definitely so far up floyd’s nutsack that you starting to lose ties to reality.. these ’suspicions’ you keep on spouting is the product of the malicious allegation sr. says after pacman KTFO his fighter.. if you’re boy is so intent on cleaning up the sport he should have been working with the commission.. and when the test is done across the board by the commission i’m sure pacman will abide with it.. he will bend for the commission but hell would freeze over first before he dance to floyd’s tune.. get it..? so STFU and tell your boy to pursue his crusade correctly..
Probably you should focus your wrath on the boxing commissions, Pedro, instead of focusing on one specific fighter. It just shows your sheer hate for the fighter that has continually made you look bad, as well as his supporters, not all of which happen to be Pinoys. But you know that already.
We all want to know if fighters are juiced, regardless of who they are. Mosley admitted, Chavez Jr got caught. And then there’s Xylocaine Floyd. At this time Pacquiao can refuse blood testing because it isn’t required. So maybe those like you and nutcase Frances who promote the advocacy of USADA-type testing methods SHOULD criticize and petition the commissions to institute these changes as a requirement for boxing. Go after the commissioners, not the fighters. If the boxing commissions declare this as mandatory, even Pacquiao with all his fear of blood and needles will comply. If he refuses, then you can bring all of Beelzebub’s minions upon him. Unless that happens, stop writing about the man’s refusal to do what you guys want him to do, especially if it tires you.
On you defending Frances, if she can’t do that herself, then she has no business being a journalist. That piece of hers certainly doesn’t look like it was written by one.
Pedro, Pacman just doesn’t want to bow down to Floyd’s demand. That simple. If you’re the no. 1 boxer in world would you bow down to someone’s demand? Specially if you’re being singled out? You’ll be lying if you’ll do it. It’s all about ego and pride.
As for Martel, she has every right to write whatever she wants but she should be ready for the negative feedbacks from Pacquiao fans. What do you expect from the Pacquiao fans? Applause her? Atleast, she earn some attention.
“Although Floyd Sr. first made it a media thing, people suspected Pacâs camp of giving him EPO & or steroids. Donât blame the messenger, take the tests and STFU!”
How about no? At the very least, that will let your site get more hits and you pound away at your keyboard. Pac’s doing you a favor, Pedro. Granted, you have no proof, but suspicion is equal to proof to you, right? Riiiight.
how dare you use the word “lame” when you have the least understanding of the word’s meaning. you don’t smell fish, you took one out of the trash and sold it to everyone you could peddle your pac-hatred. manny never said he’s afraid of needles — where’s your direct quote of that? this came out of arum’s extrapolation of manny’s initial rejection of pbf’s mind game. but you’re making a convenient prop out of a phantom statement to buttress your preconceived bias. there’s one consistent point that pac has asserted regarding the testing procedure: his feeling that drawing blood close to the fight made him weaker. whether you agree with him or not he has ample basis to make the claim: blood drawn two days before the first morales fight convinced him that it made him feel weaker. talking about lame, it is lame enough that you are basically admitting that pac is “so good he must be on something,” you are actually drawing the conclusion that he is on something, without the slightest determination or basis as to what it is specifically, even stooping down down to proving pac is on something based on his enlarged head in a photo where he is in front of someone whose head is smaller BECAUSE HE IS BEHIND PAC. can you spell lame? you’re a plain simpleton in leaping as high as the mayweathers wanted you to jump in just going along “if you have nothing to hide.” pedro mijo, usada never caught marion jones, tim montgomery, amy van dyken and her whole batch of swimmers until people from outside of usada blew the whistle on them. and irony of ironies, marion jones was actually caught by a urine test! at least nsac, which mayweather and factotums like you say is not reliable enough, caught vargas, chavez jr. and a bunch of others. mayweather’s gambit basically demanded that we buy the same bar of soap from walmart rather than target, and usada is the walmart here. what’s the point of rejecting a $40 million payday (which you also cite as proof of pacquiao’s guilt)? big. very big. now mayweather knows the mind game didn’t work and the negotiations will be on a level field, assuming he weathers mosley. one more thing, pedro, you refer to “pinoys” as stupid on many occasions. as a failed cop with a penny-ante website you can be forgiven the lack of understanding of nuance. it is racist to denigrate an entire people. but actually the finger more often points at you as far as stupidity goes. you said these pinoys cannot differentiate between an “article and a radio interview.” yes they do. but the poster was actually referring to your track record, your body of work, the consistent line being peddled in this whole sordid mess. you are lame, and you are stupid.
These use to be the most objective site ever, now All they do is ATTACKING Manny Pacquiao and Publishing TRASH!!
I agree that Pacquiao should taken the test to put the doubters at rest but the FIGHT CHICK you have defended should have been more objective in his writing than Blaming Pacquiao and Comparing his Impact of your CHEATING COUNTRY MAN NAMED MARGARITO!!!
No evidence against PACQUIAO, While MARGARITO got caught redhanded!!!
That only shows that BIRDS on the SAME FEathers are the SAME BIRD!!!
You are the same bird as the CHICK PEDRO!!!
This SITE MAKE ME PUKE!! Thats it I will never surf this site again!!!
Pedro
If floyd Sr. knows pac is using roids, how come he didnt ask for an Olympic type drug testing b4 pac fought hatton ? i heard him saying after pac vs hatton that hatton did not follow his instructions, he never mentioned roids.
You people are making it seem like Pacquiao is seeking a special exemption for himself when in fact he is simply expecting to fight under the same rules as every other professional fighter on earth.
Pacquiao is a chooser, not a beggar in this sport. He doesn;t need to jump because Mayweather says so or to indulge his illiterate ex-con excuse for a father.
There is nothing at all suspicious about turning down $40 million. Pacquiao just made $20M fighting a guy everybody knwew was the reincarnation of Ghandi. He could make another $20 million with an even safer opponent. Heck at this point Arum could probably un-retire Roger Stafford or Harold Voldbrecht and still get Pacquiao a good payday, so where’s the urgency? Roy Jones never suffered financially for his refusing to fight in Europe for 10 years, so Pacquiao probably is following that business model.
no need to take any unwarranted test because some idiots cant believe whats going on is natural. floyd trains like a machine, and he never took any blood tests to prove it.
I can’t say yes or no. But to see some people try to defend pacs
position not to test is soo perplexing? Borderline insanity!!!!!!!
I agree that Pac should take the test, but her article was totally biased and frankly incompetant. No boxing skills, bad for the sport. Seriously, Pac fights everyone is totally humble and respectful. You never see anyone leaving a Pac fight early unlike Floyds.
The Mayweathers are good for boxing? Boring fights, avoiding the best fighters and a history of drug dealing and domestic violence against women. Seriously, that article was a joke and it’s hard to see the Fight chick is anything but a no talent hack.
I know this site has a bias against Top Rank and I agree with a lot of it, but that bias his caused it to lose it’s objectivity.
there is more of a reason to think tiger woods is using hgh than pac. what evidence is there? he’s good?
and for the record piss tests are the standard for steroids and epo. HGH is used in the OFF SEASON. thats why no one is caught with it. there was a 10 day diff in cutoff for testing. Name the PED not caught in urine that will have an effect taken for only 20 days?
BANG!! Try & stop it. BANG! U wanna throw back? BANG! BANG!! BANG!!! Come on. BANG! BANG!! BANG!!! BANG!!! What a despicable display of hbo cheerleading!! But it was funny as f— too!!!
there’s one point that hasn’t come up in this exchange of speculations — which, as pedro and cohorts conveniently fail to point out — is all there is at this juncture: speculations. pac’s lifestyle makes it quite remote that he’s doing PEDs. lance armstrong (again, unproven allegations) is so solitary, he virtually lives alone, even between laps on the tour de france. barry bonds and tiger woods are also known loners. pac has upwards of 20 people living with him in his 2-bedroom l.a. condo; the same entourage, and then some, in the philippines. from all accounts it is not a tightly-knit inner circle, quite easy to penetrate as evidenced by new ones who have joined the group quite recently. his strength coach, alex ariza, was introduced to him only a few fights ago, and nutritionist jeri tom (ucla, summa cum laude), even more recently by a third party. all of these might be trivia, but they add up to a lifestyle and training regimen that does not allow for activity that needs to be hidden. boxing is like any other business, your employees and close friends today may not be your employees and close friends tomorrow (example — lenny de jesus, clottey’s trainer, used to be manny’s cutman), and with the money possibilities available, someone who has something to hide must keep to an absolute minimum the number of peeks into one’s private affairs. manny does not operate like this; in fact he’s the direct opposite. he’s there for the whole world to see. but then again, we’re up against arguments like roger mayweather’s to prove pac is on some PED: he tells the story about filipinos fighting american soldiers over a century ago who were not killed by bullets (”they just kept on coming”)! wow! pedro is in good company. you expect to reason with ignoramuses? if so, what’s the need for usada or nsac? hell, you’d need a bazooka to defeat this guy! and interestingly, pedro et. al. did not laugh with the rest of the world when pbf himself said: “we all know the philippines has the best performance enhancing drugs.” yeah, right! and not even one olympic gold medal in its history? and content with only a couple of world boxing champs? that’s why arguing with idiots is pointless.
Pedro, the hate only weakens your argument.
Why not try answer the issue squarely: Does manny need to have the extra test and why?
Is it because floyd says so? Or, because sr suspects him of taking ped? Or, because of his recent success in higher weight? Or, because manny has inferior skill and he ought to lose to dela hoya, hatton, cotto, and recently, clottey?
Come on… I trust you know better.
One thing I will say is that while it is possible Paq is on steroids and he arguably should have acceded to Mayweatherâs demands, I do believe that many if not most of the accusations against him, especially the more enthusiastic ones, are motivated from an uglier placeâŚsorry. I am usually the last person to call racism but I do think itâs a factor here. I really donât think a lot of people can stand, or disbelieve, seeing this little Asian dude thump on people so badlyâŚ.consciously or subconsciously.
Pacman uses EPO, HGH and other strains of designer steroids that can only be caught within 46 hours of its use, ONLY with certain BLOOD TESTS. That’s why Pac avoids detection, cause Pac only does what the commsission only require to do, and that is URINE TESTS. This is how Pacman, Mosley and a few other fighters get away with “juicing”. And most Pacquiao fans will ignore the facts, and endlessly defend Pacquiao with lame excuses, like “Pac has never tested positive”!, “Pac is afraid of needles”, etc… Well how could Pac test positive, if his team is clever at avoiding detection. Besides tha fact that Pac is “juicing up” with PED’s, Pac DOES NOT fight anybody. Pac has a history of ducking fighters. Pac has ducked Humberto Soto for more than 3 years. Pac has also ducked Juan Diaz, Edwin valero, a 3rd Marquez fight, Joan Guzman, Shane Mosley, Nate cambell, Floyd Mayweather Jr…Pac just goes around handpicking Old Faded Greats, Weight-Drained Champions, “Shot” fighters, and sometime C-Level BUMS. I just dont see how anyone can consider him the best P4P, when he ducks many top fighter, cherrypicks old faded greats, and makes “shot” champions come down to a catchweight. Pac by far, is The Most Overrated Boxer in The History of Boxing.
Pac did agree to random tests prior to two weeks before fight time. People rarely mention that as a credit to his name. Initial negotiations were for blood tests up to the weighin. Two weeks of the bean gonna make that big of a difference for the GOAT like Floyd?!?! Do folks really believe Pac was on the bean for Clottey given all the attention thats on him now for cheating?!?! Thats like Margarito trying to sneak dirty wraps again……though Pac has never done anything wrong!
These are the known proven CHEATERS!!!
1. Margarito
2. Vargas
3. Chavez Jr.
4. Mosley
5. Floyd Jr.
If Sotto fought Clottey last night, Clottey would have dispose him in three rounds. Soto can’t even hurt a shot D. Diaz, who suffered a humiliating knock out from Pacman. Manny is gonna kill him in the first round, if ever they meet.
Juan Diaz was beaten by pussy Malinaggi twice.
WWWK (Ian), you’re idiot of all idiots!!
I told you all that PPV was going to be nothing but trash. The whole card was nothing but trash. Clottey = Guy with no jab, thinks blocking punches wins fights, and thinks that not throwing any punches is a recipe for success.
i knew better than to buy this farce of a fight and the dreadful undercard. it seems to me that arum has gotten to the point that he knows that boxing fans will buy anything. i for once didnt care anything about this fight. until pacquio mans up and proves to all his doubters that hes clean, ill never buy another one of his fights. im glad i didnt buy it ,but from what ive been reading, some people even speculated that clottey took a dive. they said that whenever clottey let his hands go he hurt em. maybe he was instructed by arum himself to only fight back in spurts. nothing that happens with pacquio and arum surprise me anymore. i wouldnt doubt it if clottey did take a dive, and arum offered him a kickback for doing it.
Based upon hat I saw on saturday Pac is a relatively easy fight for Mayweather, I would also lay money on Mosley to beat him. He gets hit far too much. Maywether TKO by 10, Moslet KO by 7
Further I don’t believe that that pac is aware that he is taking anything, however i am not so sure about Aziza and Roach. I don’t think that Roach, Arum or Aziza want Pac to fight mayweather as that would end the gravy train, and who else does Roach have to take over from pac. Khan!!!!!!
Kenny I’ll answer ur ? Yes he should test his integrity is in question!!!! And as a man of honor he should show hear I am and I’m clean for sure and now u have to get in the ring with me and feel my wrath. Let’s be honest if it were any of us and we knew we were clean we would test in a heart beat and pick up that 40 Millie!!!!!!!!!!!! U people r sick in the head when u come up with PAC won’t bend for may and bla bla bla? If mayweather had a brain he would petition the nac for the extra testing. Remember when hasim Rahman told lennox Lewis he was gay and lennox said bring me ur sister and I’ll show u how gay I am!!!! Same here I think ur roiding. Oh yea give me the test. But that hasn’t happened. I don’t know why????
PEDRO,
YES and YES! USADA never caught PROVEN cheaters like marion jones, tim montgomery, amy van dyken and and many more athletes from US of A who believed PED and STEROIDS and not hard work are path to stardom. These guys NEVER have seen HOW Pacman trains since teens. NEVER!
Pedro, would you submit yourself to drugtest, police questioning and lie detector test just because some ex-convict/drugpusher thinks you look like a killer? You already made your assumption a conviction!
The hate is strong in this one.
Lol!
Here’s from some nutjob above: ”
“Pac is âjuicing upâ with PEDâs, Pac DOES NOT fight anybody. Pac has a history of ducking fighters. Pac has ducked Humberto Soto for more than 3 years. Pac has also ducked Juan Diaz, Edwin valero, a 3rd Marquez fight, Joan Guzman, Shane Mosley, Nate cambell, Floyd Mayweather JrâŚPac just goes around handpicking Old Faded Greats, Weight-Drained Champions, âShotâ fighters, and sometime C-Level BUMS. I just dont see how anyone can consider him the best P4P, when he ducks many top fighter, cherrypicks old faded greats, and makes âshotâ champions come down to a catchweight. Pac by far, is The Most Overrated Boxer in The History of Boxing.”
OK where do we start with this one. Those fighters you mentioned, were do they stand now. Juan Diaz, the guy that gave Paulie Mallignagi fits coming in at the “catchweight” that would have favored Mallignagi, the same Paulie that got busted up by Ricky Hatton who in turn got starched by Pacquiao. Who do you consider more formidable, Hatton, or Juan Diaz? Speaking of Diaz, What about Humberto Soto who obviously had a hard time with DAVID DIAZ ( we all remember Pacquiao’s “other” highlight k.o. reel don’t we? ) Valero Pac, hey that would be a good one, but to say Pac is ‘ducking’ Valero is a little bit out of line. Pacquiao has been takin scalps for the last decade and still people don’t want to beliiev in this amazing guy!
no point in arguing with king ian — that drivel says more about him than his knowledge of boxing, or rather the obvious lack of it. but the plainly obvious question if his version had an iota of truth to it, is that an undersized elementary school level boxer from a poor third world country has been duping the boxing world for nearly a decade, with billions having changed hands in vegas sports books, using illegal substances undetected — and American boxers, whose homeland is the laboratory, incubator, manufacturer and distribution center of these substances, have not laid their hands on it? this guy is smoking some stuff. but one can certainly empathize. judging from all that vitriol, the guy is probably begging his bank for a foreclosure forbearance after having picked against pac for the last 12 consecutive fights — that is if he had the guts to put his money where his stinking mouth is.
Roberto rios,
I think your roiding. Comeon give me the test.
Does it makes sense to you?
But you made quite a good point. Arum already said that manny will submit to whatever test the commission will require (but not to what mayweather will require, because he is not the commission anyway). Thus, I agree with you that mayweather should channel his petition to NAC. That’s the proper and only way.
With all the arguments here being presented, I just felt that Pedro Fernandez, Frances Martel (that chick who claimed to have filipino blood in her vain, which I do not believe now…she is just pretending she has, Mayweathers and others’ arguments, cannot hold water.
They were guilty of defaming Manny Pacquiao for accusing him, by inference, of steroid use without any shred of evidence. They do not live up to the american legal standard of “innocent until proven guilty”.
I am sorry to tell this to you Pedro and Frances but your brand of journalism is so despicable, gutless and very unprofessional that other journalists who are living right now should be condemning you if they really love their profession.
The Commission tests are antiquated. Please can a Filipino please put this in Tagalog for your masses. Pac will not agree to blood tests 14 days out. Why? Especially if it meant shutting Floyd’s mouth and making $30 to $60 million! Paulie will be on “Ring Talk Worldwide” this coming Sunday, I’m sure the Pinoys will love that show!
remind me how many weight classes PBF has gone up since starting his career?
PBF is just hatin’ b/c Manny actually entertains someone other than his uncle and dad and family when he fights….and he does inside the distance what Floyd’s brittle and numbed up hands with whatever painkiller they use (yeah, I said it) can’t do within 12 rounds.
Where’s those emails Mr. Atlas?!?! I’ve said before that Manny is not doing something that is impossible, but only what true greats have done before him. Great fighters only come around every so often…..if RJJ is considered great why can’t Manny….with the exception that Manny is doing it clean and facing top P4P in his weight class. I have to question RJJ and Mosley’s whole careers because they are proven roid takers. There is no way Shane could join Armstrong and Duran and go from lightweight skip 140 directly to 147 and challenge the welterweight champ and beat him without being on roids……….right?!?!
Nonie,
If Soto fought Clottey, Soto would’ve KO’d Clottey, cause Soto is a hard puncher with accuracy in his punches. Soto did not want to hurt a shot D. Diaz, cause he was intructed to not end the fight early, so that the Main Event can start at the time scheduled, or else everyone in attendance would have to wait over half-hour till Pac-Clottey fight begins. Manny is too scared to fight Soto, and will nevr fight him.
Besides, the Pacquiao-Clottey fight was FIXED!!, Clottey accepted money, in exchange for NOT hurting Pacquiao and not throwing many punches at Pacquiao. That
’s why Clottey was in a “nutshell” throughout the fight, cause he was paid, under the table, to NOT hurt Pacquiao.
Juan Diaz was beaten by pussy Malinaggi twice, and yet Pacman would not dare fight Juan Diaz. Diaz has called out Pacman more than 3 times on YouTube, and Pac still declines.
1200 Tech,
Juan Diaz, the guy that gave Paulie Mallignagi fits coming in at the âcatchweightâ that would have favored Mallignagi, the same Paulie that got busted up by Ricky Hatton who in turn got starched by Pacquiao. Juan Diaz is more formidable cause he’s a banger. Paulie is a runner, and Hatton was already “shot”? Humberto Soto did NOT have a hard time with Diaz. It was a calculated fight to be stretched out to the later rounds, cause had Soto KO’d Diaz in the 1st round, then the crowd would have to wait 45 minutes before Pac-Clottey starts. Valero Pac, hey that would be a good one, but to say Pac is âduckingâ Valero is a little bit out of line. Pacquiao has been takin scalps of Old Legends, “shot” fighters, and weight-drained champions, with Pac being “juiced up” with EPO, HGH and other designer steroids that can only be caught with certain blood tests (which the commissions dont do), within 46 hours of its use before it washes out of his body’s system. This is how Manny PacROIDS avoids detection each time he fights. For the last decade, Pac has used Steroids, DOES NOT GET CAUGHT, and still people donât want to believe, that he “juices up” everytime he fights. This is why the public, blindedly, thinks he’s “amazing”.
The Commission tests are antiquated. Please can a Filipino please put this in Tagalog for your masses. Pac will not agree to blood tests 14 days out. Why? Especially if it meant shutting Floydâs mouth and making $30 to $60 million! Paulie will be on âRing Talk Worldwideâ this coming Sunday, Iâm sure the Pinoys will love that show!
Pacquiao: When is he going to step it up and fight someone really good?
March 15th, 2010
By Chris Williams:
Unlike a lot of people who are crowing 24/7 about how great Manny Pacquiao has looked in chocking up his latest win over Joshua Clottey last Saturday night at the Cowboy Stadium, I wasnât impressed in the least by the fight or Pacquiaoâs opponent. Iâm tired of seeing Pacquiao put in with fighters that I see as tailor made for him.
You know, the come forward types with almost zero ability to move or defend. In Clotteyâs case, he was able to defend himself well, but was incapable of throwing more than a token shot in self defense. The thing of it is this was known going into the fight about Clottey.
Anyone who had any real knowledge about boxing knew that Clotteyâs work rate was pitiful and he was someone who would present a safe punching bag for Pacquiao to beat on all night long for 12 rounds. It was more than a little disappointing to hear Pacquiaoâs trainer Freddie Roach trying to remake Clottey as dangerous all action opponent in the weeks leading up to the fight, because this wasnât how Clottey had ever been.
Although Clottey was ranked at number #1 by the WBO, despite having lost his last fight, he probably deserved to be ranked nowhere near number #1 based on his performances in the past. It was sad to see Pacquiao matched up with yet another fighter who was incapable of giving him a good fight. Pacquiao defeated Miguel Cotto in his last fight, Ricky Hatton in the fight before that and Oscar De La Hoya before Hatton.
All those guys were good at one point in their careers but had suffered problems shortly before being selected for a fight against Pacquiao. Iâm not saying itâs a bad thing for Pacquiao to have fought those guys. I mean it is what it is. They were obviously more popular â and perhaps less dangerous â than guys like Andre Berto and Shane Mosley.
Those were fighters that for some reason Pacquiao wasnât put in with, which is too bad because it would have been a heck of a lot more interesting to see Pacquiao fight them compared to the immobile De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto and Clottey. I wish I could see Pacquiao facing the likes of Mosley and Mayweather in the future, but I donât see those fights happening.
Itâs not Pacquiaoâs fault, of course. He seems to go along with whatever his management says. But I donât see his management putting in with a threat like Mayweather or Mosley regardless if thereâs no blood testing. I see Pacquiao being put in with the likes of Yuri Foreman or maybe some of the other Top Rank fighters like him. Mayweather and Mosley would be great fights, to be sure, but maybe a little too dangerous for Pacquiao and it could end the gravy train a little early before Pacquiao is through.
I see Pacquiao as a good fighter, but not nearly the best in the welterweight division. I think Mosley, Mayweather, and Berto and then new kid, Saul Alvarez, all beat Pacquiao. Alvarez is pretty green at only 19, but he hits like a ton of bricks. If that was him in with Pacquiao last Saturday night instead of Clottey, Iâd hate to see what Pacquiaoâs face would look like today. Alvarez hits a lot harder than Clottey and is a much busier as well.
http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/03/pacquiao-when-is-he-going-to-step-it-up-and-fight-someone-really-good/
Soto is a lightweight (135) Clottey is a welterweight (147) with no guts.
WWWK(Ian)- With your line of thinking, why not throw EVERY boxer u know under the bus regarding EPO and other performance enhancing drugs due to the fact they ALL take the SAME “useless” antiquated testing? You now accuse Soto of actually waiting to K.O. david diaz in the late rounds? are u joking? This is not WWE your watching! your baseless accusations hold no weight!
WhenWeWereKings,
U mean to say that SOTO intentionally prolong his fight w/ diaz cuase as you just said, “the crowd would wait a little longer before pac vs. clottey”,
Only an idiot would think that way. Even PEDRO will not agree with what u said.
WhenWeWereKings
Are the Mayweathers ur idol?
1. Your saying that clottey took a dive vs pac
2. SOTO was instructed not to end the fight early
show me any proof and i’ll believe everything u just said in here.
Thats what the mayweather r doing to pac, accusations w/ou proof.
Dont give that BS that pac should prove his innocence, it should be the other way around, they should prove that pac is roiding, but up to now, not one single evidence was presented, even the so called email from pac’s camp. where is it?
WWWK(Ian), as I have said, you’re the KING of idiots, why waste my time on you.
WWWK(ian)-you should be frances martels cheerleader!lol…you actually argue that sual alvarez would beat pacquiao becuase he hits like a ton of bricks and is busier than clottey? power DOES NOT win fights! If they did, power punchers like randal baily, kendel holt, sam peter, and the likes of those guys would be cleaning out divisions…
1200 Tech,
Soto’s “calculated” win against David Diaz was that Soto DOES NOT end the fight early. After Soto dropped Diaz in the 1st round, Soto did not throw any punches and let Diaz survive.,,This is not the first time Soto “plays possum” with an opponent. When SOto fought Jesus Chavez and dropped him in the 1st round, SOto didnn;t throw more punches and allowed Jesus Chavez to survive the round and let the fight be stretched. ,,,WHen Soto fought that Canadian fighter (Benoit ???), Soto dropped him in the 1st round, but then did not throw any more punches and allowed him to survive the round and stretched the fight in the later rounds. Soto could’ve KO’d David Diaz, Jesus Chavez and Benoit in the 1st rounds, but didn’t cause the crowd would have to wait over 1/2 hour before the maine event starts, and because Soto doesn;t want to scare future opponents from not fighting him, since many are too scared to fight him, cause Soto has a hard time getting fights , cause he’s avoided by Pacman, Valero,Jorge Linares, Marquez,
1200 Tech,
Here are others that used EPO
Shane Mosley
Nate Campbell
Evander Holyfield
Bernard Hopkins
Edwin Valero
Manny âSteroidâ Pacquiao Is the Most Overrated / Overhyped
Hypocrite Boxer In The History of Boxing
Manny âsteroidâ Pacquiao Is the Most Overrated / Overhyped
Hypocrite Boxer In The History of Boxing, without a doubt.
(Mosley is the 2nd Most Overrated, cause of Steroids use… Tito is the 3rd Most Overrated, for Illegal Handrwappings)
Never in the history of boxing has there been a boxer that has been so overhyped and is clearly overrated as the steroid junkie-Manny Pacquiao.
He claims to be the âbestâ, yet he has ducked more contenders and more fighters than anyone else
Pac has ducked:
Humberto Soto
Juan Diaz
Edwin Valero
Joan Guzman
Shane Mosley
Foyd Mayweather Jr.
Michael Katsidis
A 3rd Marquez fight
Nate Campbell
He came close to fighting Mayweather Jr.,but because Pac doesnât want to take random blood tests (to avoid being caught using steroids), he is now fighting Joshua Clottey, while Floyd takes on a tougher challenger (Mosley), whom Pac also ducked.
How can someone be âbest P4Pâ? , if Pac has ducked tough prime fighters, and has only gotten by with wins over Old Mexican Legends (Morales, Barrera) with his steroid uses.
This is funny. Pac needed steroids to beat Old Mexican greats Morales and Barrera.
This will go down in history. That Pac chickened-out from Marquez a 3rd time, and a Mayweather Jr. fight.
Pac has ducked Humberto Soto for more than 3 years.
Pac just goes around handpicking weight-drained champions, has-beens, and b & c-level fighters like Clottey, Jorge Solis, etc.
Pac avoids detection of the illegally banned substance named EPO, cause EPO can only be detected within 46 hrs. of its use with a certain blood test, which none of the boxing commissions do.
Who knows what other designer steroids Pac uses. Only his team (Alex Ariza, Roach) only know.
And thanks to Arum, he has âmilkedâ Pacâs career with an easy path through his career, by having him dodge the tough challenges, and handpicking âshotâ fighters, or weight-drained champions.
Heck, Pacmqn didnât even bring 55,000 persons to Cowboys Stadium. It was Margarito that brought in close to 30,000 fans, then Arum betrayed those Margarito fans by cancelling Margarito from the card, and made those Margarito fans be stuck with non-refundable tickets, with one of the terms,,,,âcard subject to changeâ.
The rest of the 15,000 tickets were broken down like this:
3,000 Humberto Soto fans
2,000 Jose Luis Castillo fans
1,000 David Diaz fans
1,000 Alfonso Gomez fans
800 Manny Pacquiao fans
500 John Duddy fans
The rest of the 7,000 tickets were free giveaways.
UFC President Dana Whyte gave away about 1,000 tickets. Even though the website said 10 tickets, its more like 1,000. Other business also gave tickets away..
Pac has been so overhyped that when it finally came down to trying to make a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight, Pac chickened-out. This is what happens when a fraud like Pacquiao is falsely âbulitâ to make th epublic think that he something special, when evidently heâs not. Because Pac is a fraud, a fake and an overrated champion that has gotten by with steroids throughout his career.
WWWK (Ian)-”Who knows what other designer steriods Pac is uses. Only his team (Alex Ariza, Roach) only know.”
No , really? Probably has to do with the FACT there is NO EVIDENCE!
Also, you actually argue that Margacheato fans sold 30k tickets? Your actually dumber thatn I thought. Look, margacheato might have sold out staples with the help of mosley, but don’t you realize that guy lost half his fanbase after plastergate? You out yourself as a hater with your baseless arguments. You truly are a waste of time.
If Humberto Soto would’ve destroyed david diaz, his stock would go up, and that is EXACTLY what all boxers aim to achieve! to argue otherwise sounds foolish.
Thank you, Pedro, Frances and Whenwewerekings (Ian) from the bottom of my heart for educating me about boxing and Pacquiao. You see, i have been miseducated by the Boxing Writers Association of America and the Ring Magazine, which bamboozled me by reporting that Pacquiao is one of only THREE fighters to be awarded Fighter of the Year 3 times out of the preceding 4 years (Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiao). I was impressed by that, but not anymore. Luckily, Pedro, Frances and Ian shook me out of my ignorance. I almost idolized him for being in that exclusive fraternity of 3-time Fighter of the Year awardees (Joe Louis, Marciano, Joe Frazier, Ali, Evander Holyfield, Pacquiao) â only 6 in the entire recorded history of boxing. Pedro and Frances, you are truly in the mainstream of boxing journalism, a cut above the rest, unlike those trying-hard wannna-be boxing writers who nearly unanimously voted Pacquiao the first Fighter of the Decade of the millenium. Ugh!
Where’s the emails Mr. Atlas! Armstrong and Duran were on PED’s like Mosley…..and of course Pacman…they all belong to that elite fraternity.
