RDA STOPS CERRONE IN 66 SECONDS

BRAZILIAN BEATS THE BUDWEISER OUT OF “COWBOY”

Nothing But Bad UFC Press

2015 Comes To Close

Los Angeles, CA- UFC lightweight (155) champion Rafael Dos Anjos (25-7) continued his impressive streak with a 66 second demolition of Donald Cerrone (28-7) and the challenger’s 8-fight win streak.  Dos Anjos hurt Cerrone to the body early and piled on the attack.  Cerrone continued his habit of choking in the biggest fights, as he let the rematch slip away from him easily.  It will be a long road back to the title for Donald.  RDA may have a date with featherweight (145) king Conor McGregor (19-2) in the near future.

HOW DOES RDA FAIR AGAINST CONOR?

The main vulnerability Conor McGregor has shown thus far is his grappling.  He has lost twice, and both Ls came by submission.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the strengths of the lightweight champion.  I am not so sure the UFC risks their biggest star against a guy with very little marketablity.  Conor always has a puncher’s chance, but RDA is a tough out for anyone in or around that division right now.  Read more

UFC ON FOX 17 BETTER THAN MOST PPVS

LIGHTWEIGHT (155) TITLE FIGHT IN MAIN EVENT

Cowboy Being Advertised More Than The Champ

Cowboy Being Advertised More Than The Champ

Los Angeles, CA- Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (28-6, 1 NC) fights about a million times a year, and will make his 1,000,001st appearance in the main event of UFC on Fox 17. He will be fighting current lightweight king Rafael Dos Anjos (24-7), who is making the first defense of the title he took from Anthony “Showtime”
Pettis (18-3) in dominant fashion back in March. Cerrone is on an 8 fight win streak, with Dos Anjos being the last one to hand Cowboy a loss back in 2013.

WHO WINS REMATCH?

I think Cerrone gets his revenge here. This will likely set up a third fight down the line. Cowboy has shone a lot of improvement in recent fights, and looks poised to take the crown. If Cerrone wins, there are rumors he will face new featherweight (145) titlist Conor McGregor (19-2), which would be huge. I do not see the UFC risking one of their biggest stars, who lost twice by submission earlier in his career, against a less marketable grappling specialist like Dos Anjos who also happens to be the bigger guy.

FIGHT OF THE NIGHT IS CO-MAIN

If you asked me a few years ago who would win a fight between Junior Dos Santos (17-3) and Alistair Overeem (39-14, 1 NC), I would pick Dos Santos by knockout without hesitation. Flash forward a couple years, and Dos Santos has taken two terrible beatings at the hands of Cain Velasquez (13-2) and has not looked particularly good in a fight since 2013. I think Reem outpoints him, provided he does not get reckless and leave that glass jaw of his out for Cigano to put him out.

CONOR MCGREGOR BREAKS ALDO & UFC RECORD

MAIN EVENT SHOCKED THE WORLD

The Punch That Began The Era Of McGregor

The Punch That Began The Era Of McGregor

Los Angeles, CA- Yet another blow has been dealt to bantamweight (135) phenom Ronda Rousey (12-1), but this time it was not dealt while she was in the octagon. Rousey’s 14 second armbar win over Cat Zingano, a UFC record for the fastest in a title fight at the time, has now been topped by new UFC featherweight (145) champion Conor McGregor (19-2).  The brash Irish southpaw uncorked a deadly left hook that put Jose Aldo (25-2) to sleep immediately.  Aldo managed to land a punch that cut McGregor right after Conor landed his own, but it was too late.  Aldo was already unconscious just 13 seconds into the UFC 194 main.

MCGREGOR WAS FAVORED IN “SOME” SPORTSBOOKS

Jose was the greatest fighter in the history of the featherweight division going into the clash with Conor.  I predicted Conor to win, and thought a first round knockout was possible.  I certainly thought it would not go past three.  Even I was in utter shock with the way Aldo crashed to the canvas after the first punch Conor landed.  It was an epic conclusion to nearly a year of buildup for this match.  Conor McGregor is the goods.  There is no doubt about it now.  This win was the equivalent to boxer Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) icing the legendary Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) three years ago.  Aldo was considered number one pound for pound going in, and had not lost in ten years.  His only loss was at lightweight (155), a division ten pounds above his comfort.

REMATCH?

The way he was dismantled will leave some fans wanting an immediate rematch, but I would give a big fat NO to that suggestion.  The UFC needs to build its stars back up.  Instead of going after the fast money, let these fighters build themselves back up.  Immediate rematches did not work out so well for Anderson Silva (33-6, 1 NC) or Renan Barao (33-3, 1 NC).  Barao technically had a fight between his two whoopings at the hands of T.J. Dillashaw (12-2), but only because he was hospitalized after nearly dying trying to cut weight for the originally scheduled immediate rematch.  Silva was stopped in the second round twice and is now on the outside looking in with regards to the belt.  When will Zuffa learn?  Time will tell how Cain Velasquez (13-2) and Ronda Rousey perform in their immediate rematches after both were thoroughly beaten by their opponents  the first time.

UFC 194 BETTER VALUE THAN FREE NBC BOXING?

(L-R) Opponents Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor staring each other down

San Francisco, CA– This Saturday’s UFC 194 is going straight up against free NBC boxing and Premier Boxing Champions presents champion Omar Figueroa on top. That being said, the UFC is putting forth their best two co-main events of the year, Jose Aldo-Conor McGregor & Chris Weidman-Luke Rockhold. Two unbeaten* champions and a pair of challengers that are not only coming to win, they have the ability to do so.

“SCARFACE” ALDO CURRENT BEST IN MMA

When it comes to Jose Aldo, the Brazilian is undefeated at 145 lbs. (MMA featherweight)
in 25 scraps. At 25-1, his lone loss was at ten lbs. heavier (155) at lightweight. The former WEC and reigning UFC champ is the ‘pound for pound’ best fighter in MMA period! That being said, Conor, the betting favorite is said to be Jo-say’s toughest foe in a decade of fighting.

CONOR BEATEN BY LESSER BUT BIGGER GUYS

His worthy adversary, the Irishman Conor McGregor has lost twice, both by submissions. But he has improved his game by becoming an even better Striker. His boxing skills and size, when you break it down, are his advantages here.

San Francisco, CA– A day after Albuquerque, NM turned out in the thousands for hometown hero and UFC bantamweight (135 lb.) champ Holly Holm, honoring the native for her destruction of Ronda Rousey, the loser told ESPN Magazine that the kick “heard round” the world did a lot more than knock her unconscious.

ROUSEY MIGHT NEED MOST OF 2015 OFF!

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey said. If medical professionals are telling her it’ll be many months until her teeth are ready to bite hard into something, it might be that the air that we heard coming out of the Rousey balloon, (I maybe out on a limb here) but this looks to me like a balloon that cannot be re-inflated.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 79 TONIGHT IN KOREA

UFC Czar Dana White

UFC Czar Dana White

Los Angeles, CA- UFC Fight Night 79 at the Olympics Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea marks the return of former lightweight (155 lb.) champ Benson Henderson (22-5) will take on ascending lightweight Jorge Masvidal (29-9) in a welterweight (170) bout. There are some big question marks about how both guys will do in a bigger weight class. Both have looked decent thus far, though Masvidal has looked better. I would bet on Ben finding a way to outpoint Jorge, perhaps controversially. It wouldn’t be a Ben Henderson fight without a controversial decision.

KOREAN FAN FAVORITE BACK IN ACTION

Welterweight Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim (20-3-1, 1 NC) is the owner of one of the best nicknames in combat sports. He will likely also be the owner of another W after he takes on Dominic “Sho Nuff” Waters (9-3). When it comes to nicknames, both of these guys are winners.

JFK ASSASSINATION NOTES 52 YEARS LATER

ANNIVERSARY #52 & “SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM” HEAD DIES!

Figure in Dallas PD Uniform On Grassy Knoll

Figure in Dallas PD Uniform On Grassy Knoll

San Francisco, CA– When the curator (see face) of the Sixth Floor JFK Assassination Museum in Dallas, TX died some months ago, Gary Mack’s death got him and the JFK assassination both national and international mainstream press. But as they say, the devil is in the details as the media attention the Kennedy Assassination received with Mack’s passing was simply a regurgitation of the “Oswald did it” sandwich, something mainstream media devours time and again.

Before I go any further, it was November 22, 1963, sitting in Miss Benedict’s class in SF’s Alvarado elementary school, the principal enters the room just prior to lunch and told the thought to be iron-willed Benedict something that shook her to the core. She went from a blackboard exercise to sitting at her desk as the a administrator told us, “President Kennedy has died.” Although things got quiet with Ms. Benedict in tears, I asked how did he die? “He died in Texas,” was all she said and left the room.

With my father grilled to the TV and reading “special edition” newspapers, something he never did before or after, my 6th birthday party set for November 24th was nixed and I was sitting on the couch at his side when gangster Jack Ruby shot a man NOT born Lee Harvey Oswald*. At this my dad just went crazy. Screaming while running up and down the hall of our Castro St. flat, a neighbor Dayton Brooks had to come over and calm him down. He kept saying, “They shot him, they shot him.” They? Read more
