HOW GOOD IS DANNY GARCIA?
PAULIE SURVIVES AT HOME
Paul Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KOs) SD 12 Pablo Cano (25-2-1, 19 KOs) (WBA 147 lb. title) Paulie dropped in round 11, won on scores of 114-113 twice and 118-109 for Cano. Non-title affair as Cano never made weight.
WBO MIDDLEWEIGHT GO AN “UP & DOWN” AFFAIR
Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KOs) UD 12 Hassan N’Jikam (27-1, 17 KOs) (WBO 160 lb. title) Six knockdowns in 12 rounds, Hassan N’Jikam showed a lot of stones!
DEVON BEATS BAILEY IN “SLEEPER”
Devon Alexander (23-1, 13 KOs) UD 12Randall Bailey (43-7, 37 KOs) (IBF 147 lb. title) Uneventful! Scores: 117-109, 115-111 and 116-110.

I am sold on D Garcia, he is a tough dude that can turn a fight around or end a fight with one punch he is a threat to any fighter from 140 to 147…..yes!.. there are lot of good fights and money for Garcia, because he comes to fight every time. I will watch this kid everytime he fights.
Unrelated: Bummed to see a Romney 2012 ad on RingTalk.
Garcia is worth watching…he comes to fight, he takes a few to give a few, and doesn’t fight like he is content to seek a decision win as a goal.
As a sideline, his father is a piece of work. I imagine he will be part of the televised PPV buildup spectacle in Garcia’s future.
I surely didin’t put it there. “KP” is in charge of that and I think it was an accident!
Brian Y,They are google ads. Rotating ads…no control over what comes on here based on keywords and other factors that influence companies to bid on the advertisements. I sure you’ll see Obama ones as well. If you don’t like the guy just don’t vote for him. People who just vote without doing their homework on the issues are part of the problem. Take care.
Anyone else get shut out of this card in Canada? At 8PM Showtime Canada ran the promo for the card, and then switched to other programing! We waited for a couple hours in the hope that they were just going to tape delay it, then I left at 10:45 to try to stream it online, no luck with that either.
Didn’t see a minute of boxing.
Seems only the Quillin-Ndjikam fight was the only one worth sitting through. All accounts have the Alexander-Bailey bout living down to the worst case scenario, while Malinaggi-Cana may have been a little better than expected only because it exposes Malinaggi as more vulnerable than even his greatest detractors believed.
I’ll be trying to catch up to the footage online to see if there is room for a different interpretation – notably if Canap (soft midsection & all) is a bigger monster than what he looked like against Morales – but I’m not holding my breath.
I sincerely hope we’ve finally seen the last of Morales – from that perspective him getting definitively flattened is the best thing that could have happened for boxing in general – then again, he came back after debacles like Raheem, Pacquiao 3, Diaz and Garcia 1, so we must continue to live with the fear of another comback for some time ahead.
So much for the magical powers of clebutrol, eh?
funny how all these people accusing manny about steroids all these years when you got people like morales, peterson, berto, etc coming up positive. morales, hang it up before you get punch drunk.
Well said KP!
I enjoyed the whole card. Devon Alexander, the smaller guy trying to get on the inside without walking into a big punch, did the best with what Randall Bailey gave him.
Yup, Morales should retire.
How good is Garcia?
He made a nice statement about himself in the Khan faight, in that he was willing to hang himself out to dry punching together with the faster, sharper more accurate Khan banking only on his armour being stronger than Khan’s. It worked.
The guy has a pretty good chin and seriously heavy hands. Fact is he dropped both Khan and Morales, which Marcos Maidana couldn’t do despite countless clean, flush connects.
On the other hand, it says as much about Khan as it does about Garcia. It’s like knocking out Tommy Morrison in the 90′s, it could mean you’re Lennox Lewis… or you could just as easily be Michael Bent.
Victories over washed up Morales & Nate Campbel don’t say much, the decision over Theophane was questionable. Right now I consider him a lot closer to a limited fluke champion like Bent.
But if he continues to let his hands go and not waste time boxing (at which he’s not good) he’ll be dangerous especially since much of the talent has suddenly left the division.
Fighters improve, I think Garcia has made his statement. When you look ordinary early in your career but later on beat quality opponents I think he’s shown proper development. You are only as good as your last fight. Garcia has progressed. he isn’t great, but he’s been very good the last couple fights. Andre Ward comes to mind in comparison.
