ALISTAIR OVEREEM SUSPENDED FOR STEROIDS! FRANK MIR TO FACE JUNIOR DOS SANTOS
San Francisco, CA– To say that UFC President Dana White is pissed off, well that might be the understatement of 2012 when it comes to the world of MMA. Earlier this week, the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to license Alistair Overeem, this after testing positive about six weeks ago for Testosterone, an-anabolic Steroid. At first I was told that his level was 7-1, which would put him with a hair of Nevada’s limit. But when the results were finally released, Overeem, of the Netherlands, a Strikeforce star before signing with the UFC late last year and then defeating ex-champ Brock Lesnar, had a 14-1 ratio, Nevada will let a 6-1 ratio go, WADA, the World Anti Doping Assn. has a 4-1 cut off. Overeem is suspended with “stipulations” that say he cannot fight anywhere in the world for nine months!
CHAMPION DOS SANTOS NOW FACES FRANK MIR!
On May 26, it’ll be ex-UFC champ Frank Mir challenging the best stand up fighting heavyweight in probably MMA history in Junior Dos Santos. After capturing the title with a KO of Cain Velasquez last November on the UFC debut card on FOX TV, Dos Santos, had fought with a broken foot, and Velasquez with a bad knee and shoulder, Dos Santos has fully recovered, as has Velasquez and both will be on the May 26 Pay Per View card from Las Vegas. It was originally supposed to be Velasquez vs. Frank Mir, but now Mir, an American and considered one of the best all around technicians in the UFC, steps up to meet Dos Santos of Brazil.
